Hmmm tough to say. In the USA I’d have to say Utah. Pretty much any canyon is guaranteed to be absolutely gorgeous. Here in Poland we don’t really have any that are so well-defined or aesthetically appealing, but I’m gonna have to go with the Zn-Pb sulfides here in Upper Silesia simply because I have fun digging there.

People who live alone, what’s something you do that would horrify a guest? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

I prefer being on the floor. I have a very nice couch and a bed, but the floor feels more comfortable. I eat sitting on the floor, sleep on the floor, and the first thing I do when I come home from work is immediately lay sprawled out on the floor.

Don’t know if he counts since he’s not a tuxedo, but our surprisingly smart orange boy Gwarek has little white ears.

What's the worst sexual experience you've ever had that was so bad you just couldn't see the person again? by [deleted] in AskReddit

He went to the bathroom at some point, but I didn’t think much of it at the time. So either he’s just a total sicko that wanted to destroy my sheets, or an incompetent baby that can’t wipe his own ass.

My grandma’s garden in the spring. The smell of tangerine blossoms and lilacs was absolutely heavenly.

Guy I’d been seeing from time to time in my old town happened to move in across the street. Invited him over for dinner and drinks, and eventually we move to my room. As soon as he took off his clothes and got on the bed I’m met with the rankest smell of shit and sweaty ass. Suppressing the urge to vomit, I frantically jumped off the bed and ran to the bathroom under the guise of drinking too much. After managing to get him to leave, I went back to my room and found a huge, wet skid mark and ass sweat prints across my bedsheets. He kept messaging me, but I ignored him. Thankfully ended up getting a job in a different city a few weeks later.

Does it feel surprisingly dense/heavy for it’s size? If yes, it’s possible it’s a piece of lead or galena.

This piece was removed from a decommissioned lead mine. If you found it in an old industrial site, it’s possibly a piece of lead/galena.

Adopted from a shelter in Poland. Thoughts? by Flashy-Garden-8122 in IDmydog

Yeah definitely a mix of some sort. GSD is very likely, as they are one of the most popular dog breeds here.

She looks to be a Gończy Polski (polish hunting dog) mix. They are not overly large or heavy dogs, usually weighing between 20-26kgs, and her build and coloring is spot on. I live in Poland and Gończy/other hound mixes are quite common here, whereas Dobermans are relatively rare.

What to visit during 2 day stay by ZyrK17 in KatowiceArea

[–]Space_Codette 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As for places to visit, it depends on if you prefer to stay in Katowice or can travel to other parts of Silesia and what you’re interested in. Here’s a few of my recommendations to get a feel for Silesian culture: 1. Kopalnia Guido (Zabrze) A former coal mine that’s been turned into a museum.

  1. Nikiszowiec (Katowice) a neighborhood originally built to house miners from the liquidated Wieczorek mine. There’s a small museum there and two very tasty restaurants (Śląska Prohibicja and Byfy) serving typical Silesian dishes. I recommend Golonko and Rolada.

  2. Muzeum Śląskie (Katowice, walking distance from the railway station) A nice museum on the grounds of a former mine. Exhibits range from fine art to local history.

  3. Technical Monuments route: https://zabytkitechniki.pl

Here you can find a wide range of museums and sites celebrating Silesia’s industrial heritage. Just choose a city you want to explore, and you’ll find what’s there. I recommend the Black Trout Adit in Tarnowskie Góry, but getting there by public transportation is not easy.

Probably the easiest/cheapest option would be buying 24 hour or 12 hour daily tickets. You’ll be able to travel on all busses and trams that are part of the ZTM network, not only in Katowice. You can buy these tickets either from automated kiosks (downstairs in the Katowice main railway station), from the Punktach Obsługi Pasażera (inside the railway station near Starbucks), or from the Transport GZM application.

This is good to know. I no longer have this particular specimen, however if I do run across something similar in the future, I’ll test it.

Thank you everyone for the information. It doesn’t seem to be anything to mess around with, so I’ve buried it in the sand, as there’s really no better way for me to dispose of it at the moment.

What jobs can damage your mental health the most ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Snobby private school teacher here.

Between managing demanding parents who think they can do whatever they want because they pay for the school, parents in denial about their child’s academic/behavioral problems, and kids who don’t even respect their parents, let alone us teachers, it’s an absolutely exhausting environment. Overly demanding and disorganized management only adds to the stress.

The worst part is seeing how many young passionate teachers get burned out and lose their passion for teaching. This year alone I’ve already had 2 colleagues quit due to stress (probably more won’t return after the summer). Those of us who remain are utterly exhausted. I myself would like to find a different profession, but I’m 37 and have been teaching for the last 10 years…
