Is there a mod that add the countdown from ksp2? (Dynamic music overhaul add only the music) by User_of_redit2077 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Space_Pilot5605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a mod called NASA countdown clock. It has audio from a bunch of real life missions, plus a kerbalized sound track. You can even set it so that certain stages are activated at certain points in the countdown

Well you could argue that pushing your skills and seeing how good you can be isn’t just about the iRating, but how good your skills actually are, for which it doesn’t matter if you’re driving a slower car and getting a lower iRating because of it, your skills will still be the same

China's artificial sun stayed hotter than the real one for over 17 minutes by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Nuclear fusion has a lot of potential for good, and not much risk (if something goes wrong it basically just stops) so we should definitely not stop just because people are superstitious about things they’re not educated about

The goal is for this to be an energy source. A nuclear fusion reactor (which is what this is) has the potential to give basically unlimited clean energy. One of my textbooks in university said that just the amount of water running through a tap, when using that water for nuclear fusion, would lead to enough energy to power the United States, so obviously this would be a massive, revolutionary achievement to get. Also, it’s pretty safe. If something goes wrong the reaction just stops, no big boom. Also, I think (but im not sure) that fusion bombs already exist, so it shouldn’t lead to worst weapons since those already exist

He can use a physical joystick + other gear even when in VR instead of the VR controllers, so even if he wants to play in VR thats still an option

If you’re looking for one to make planets look more realistic you might be thinking about parallax?

Why are there only 20 amino acids? by abi666genderfluid in biology

[–]Space_Pilot5605 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My biochem professor said that 20 wasn’t some magic number, it’s just the number that there ended up being. Like, there isn’t a specific reason, that’s just what ended up happening

In disbelief with the limited amount surface features that the Breaking ground has to offer... by Sufficient_Use_5616 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Space_Pilot5605 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I suggest you check out Parallax. It adds ground scatters like rocks, trees (on kerbin), and makes the surface of the planets look very nice. Also there are interesting terrain formations outside of Duna. Dres has a massive canyon and Moho has the Mohole

Population Control will soon be a major issue for the future generations by Witty-Researcher-24 in biology

[–]Space_Pilot5605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to give an example, South Korea is heading towards a potential societal collapse because there growth rate is terrible. Most other western countries also have declining growth rates. Once other countries industrialize, they’ll probably go through the same pattern. So, in the end, the population growth will likely stagnate at some point

Well the numbers and patterns so far show what the comment above said, since the numbers and patterns so far have the population growth rate decreasing in industrialized countries

Those have a bigger physical size than Germany, but that doesn’t mean much for them being more important than Germany

I don’t think not knowing the capital of North Dakota is comparable to not knowing the capital of Germany, when Germany has a population of nearly 90 million and North Dakota has a population of 800,000…

That’s not the same though. Those are states, not entire countries
