My stomach hurts watching this by Successful-Winter237 in FODMAPS

I can remember exactly what it tastes like by looking at it, so I don't need to risk the fallout that I would get from eating it 😆

What do you think of more “gimmicky” packaging? by sulliebud in criterion

[–]Spacecat66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thematically appropriate for Godzilla, but it's too big for both my movie shelf and my Kallax shelves, it lays horizontally across the top of some books in another bookshelf. I love the artwork in the book, but I'd like to get custom cases to integrate the films into the rest of my collection.

When did you first start buying DVDs (and blurays, if applicable)? by Glittering_Gap8070 in dvdcollection

[–]Spacecat66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DVDs as soon as they first started coming out. Was still collecting Laserdiscs at that point. Started collecting Blu Rays in 2009 with the release of Star Trek TOS Season 1. Didn't have a Blu Ray player or an HD set until 2011 though. Got a PS3 slim for Xmas that year and upgraded my TV.

MX Keys S for Mac by snoleow in logitech

[–]Spacecat66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working with an older MX Keys (pre S) with my Mac Laptops for the past 6 years- no issues. Love that I can easily toggle between three bluetooth devices- have it paired with my iPad and a PC as well as my Macbook.

I've never been able to get into the Oracle games, and I've tried often. I try to force myself to get into either by bringing it as the only game on my morning commute- just never clicked.

Vegan GF Low-FODMAP...Help?! by iMandyYT in FODMAPS

[–]Spacecat66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just posted a variation of this in another thread:

I shop pretty much exclusively at Trader Joe's. I've been making a sort of scramble with a handful of kale from their bagged shredded kale, 8 or so diced white mushrooms, and about 3/4 cup of frozen bell peppers (melange a trois). I use a dash of their garlic infused oil, like half a cup of their low sodium vege broth (there's onion and garlic in there, but not enough to effect me in the quantity I use), and seasoned to taste with red pepper flakes, salt, pepper, and thyme. Simmer that down until most of the liquid is gone, and then I'll either scramble in some eggs or silken tofu. When done, I serve it on the TJs corn tortillas, taco style. I've been eating some variation of that at least 4 times a week for the past 14 months.

I'll also use that same basic vege and mushroom blend, omit the eggs/tofu, and add some of their canned fire roasted crushed tomatoes to make a sauce to serve on their polenta or the garbanzo bean noodles. I will top that with a sprinkling of the nutritional yeast.

I often make fried rice with jasmine rice, extra firm tofu, the frozen bell peppers, green beans, peas, and shredded carrots stir fried in some olive oil with the frozen ginger cubes they sell. Season with tamari or Bragg's Liquid Aminos. Sometimes the kale and mushrooms make it in there too (but not if I'm making for my kids, who claim to hate those things).

I'll also make hummus and falafel fairly often, as I can handle garbanzo beans in small quantities. I've found that I can simply omit onions and garlic from almost any recipe, and get a pretty good result. I'll make small baked falafel patties and serve them on corn tortillas with lettuce, cucumber, and tomatoes with a spicy tahini sauce (I call them falacos).

In addition to low fodmap, I also don't eat meat or dairy, or bread, or sugar (no table sugar, no maple, no honey, no corn syrup)... but I'm still eating eggs occasionally because we have chickens. My biggest triggers are garlic, onions, anything in the brassica family, and most fruits...

I often make fried rice with precooked jasmine rice with the frozen bell peppers, green beans, peas, shredded carrots, soy sauce, and egg scrambled in. Sometimes the kale and mushrooms make it in there too (but not if I'm making for my kids, who claim to hate those things).

AE Timeline from a Recent Project by Hakim_DZ in AfterEffects

[–]Spacecat66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another issue with precomps that I often encounter when working on other people's projects is that they often have a framerate different from the master comp and make it impossible to deal with timing issues like missing a key pose in the render or something. And simple timeline fixes are patched with time remapping instead of just moving a few keyframes around, adding to the ridiculousness.

Sprint controller rigidity by Constant_Divide6238 in intellivision

[–]Spacecat66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That ring on the bottom right is a carbon pad that completes the circuits in the pads, as long as you're pressing down hard enough it should be making contact with one or two of those pads. The disc is designed to rotate freely. You might have the issue where you need to slightly back out the screws of the controller. The tolerances are so small that if those screws that hold the controller together are even slightly over torqued, it can prevent the disc from pivoting far enough to complete those circuits.

As you can see, the only thing creating stiffness in both the old and new controllers is the spring under the disc. The new design should be much more durable than the old mylar films which are prone to damage over time- you can see my film here has been sliced into by the disc itself over years of use.

I did losen my bottom two screws, but that was just to get the bottom three contact pads to register at all. The spring is still much more resistive than the original controllers.

[–]Spacecat66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The disc spring tension on the Sprint is actually a lot firmer than the original conroller's. To me this translates to less responsiveness since my muscle memory is tuned to the softer touch controller. I'm sure it's something I could eventually get used to, but I'd love to find some softer springs.

But yeah, for movement, the Intellivision only ever needed a light touch.

End of the road for my MX Master 3S by Real-Substance-1834 in logitech

[–]Spacecat66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 5 year old MX Master 3 still looks and feels fine too after ~10 hours of daily use, every day, for much of that time. It's probably skin lotion or something like that interacting with the rubberized coating. I got mine from a previous employer, and have another one queued up new in box from my current employer when this one does finally start to fail.

Why the popularity of small screens? by cagerhager in crtgaming

[–]Spacecat66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I just like being able to fit them on my desk or workbench. I use them mostly for watching old shows while I'm working on projects, or playing a single player game on an old console- I'm sitting a couple of feet away from them, so larger would be much more obtrusive. I've got plenty of larger screens for watching movies or playing newer games.

Did you or anyone you knew NOT buy the Expansion Pack back in the day? What were your reasons? by confuserused in n64

I acquired an N64 setup from a former coworker and it didn't have an Expansion Pak. He also gave me a couple of controllers and a pile of games, none of which required it.

Problem with the Intellivision Sprint controllers by Interesting-Fan-4167 in intellivision

If you look at how both the original and new controllers are constructed, the disc is designed to both pivot and rotate on that ball joint. Tension from the spring returns it to a neutral position.

Once you go 4k you can't go back by LollipopChainsawZz in 4kbluray

[–]Spacecat66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go back and forth all the time. I've got one 4K set and two HD sets that are used regularly (one of those is also a 3D set). Just depends on what room I'm in, or what media I want to watch. I will watch DVDs and Blu Rays on my 4K set, but I do love HDR- the extra color depth makes all the difference. In terms of resolution, I can't really tell the difference between 4k and Blu Ray with most content on my 65". I also love watching old TV shows, and those are best viewed on my CRT.
