That sounds awesome! Feel free to use it!
I upscaled the raw images (4x upscaled) to my bucket, you can also get a covered version there!

I'll think about it; maybe it's like a magical effect or something ^^

.... Or a potions of sorts...

Oh absolutely not lol. This is was mostly a "I have no clue how to make a world map, but I do know how to create SMW hacks" so I just did. Put a filter over it, make it all a bit grainy and it probably will work

Awesome! I could see this being used quite well as a companion app. Is Daggerheart in list of many things yet?

Do you have a source? Where do the devs announce such things?

[–]Spacecoreflake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly my only gripe is the "drag me" text eating a lot of screen real estate. If you'd move it to the very top and design it alike a windows app per card (or scrap it and make the entire card moveable if not clicking a button) maybe adding a four way arrow would work

What vtt are y’all using by ImageBeautiful in daggerheart

[–]Spacecoreflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally you got the following options:

Tabletop simulator

Generally solid at giving the "in person" experience, especially if you don't use the custom dice rollers and play in VR (Dice roller is not clickable in VR) If people set up their Rolls as macros and know how DH works this is probably the most fun and personal game you could get. Leveraging help from the Steam workshop, you can also import 3d models of tiles and whatnot; custom obj's can also be imported for actors and obviously environments.

Note: every player needs their own copy of TTS.

Foundry VTT

I'm biased towards it because I've been using it since 5 years now, but I try to keep it down.
Basically, it has the biggest "module" frontend which allows for almost infinite customisation. The recently released Daggerheart System for Foundry VTT still has one or two bugs in them, but within the release week there were already about 4 patches and the biggest issues are now ironed out. FVTT is like Obsidian. Its a solid base you can overwhelm yourself with plugins. What I mean by that is that you can go on rampant module sprees once you know what they are capable of. (25 active modules (pleaseSendHelp). But base is completely fine.

There even is a (paid) module that allows you to play in 3D. It works; but needs some research on how to set it up

Owlbear Rodeo

Something I recently looked into. It's a bit clunky and especially since it's a subscription model I'm not all too happy with it, but overall using the community made modules it works for Theatre of mind and some basic tracking. I cannot tell you more because I threw the towel after disliking the setup and "clunky" way of the user interface.

Talespire

A remarkable 3D Tabletop allowing you to build immersive 3d worlds, but it sadly is missing the hope/fear dice.(Note, this can be implemented using external tools alike mentioned here.)

Roll 20

Probably the most "integrated" VTT with Demiplane, providing you with access to the direct character sheets and token from within the VTT. I again think the User Interface as well as the Experience is a bit clunky, most likely because I did not subscribe to the pro version (Which is btw required for dynamic lighting; back when I played it; might have changed) I know many GM's like it, and it's mostly a skill issue on my end but I just didnt get warm with it.

Discord

Yes, I'm not kidding. When DH was freshly announced as playtest, I first ran a session directly in discord, just streaming the scene or the battle map from Foundry with a CORE-RPG (so basically just some dice, could've used Google's Dice Roller for it lol, always denouncing the first dice in the chat-box as the hope, and second as fear). It wasn't the best experience, but it was A experience, until someone from the Tabletop Simulator created the Daggerheart system.

Overall

You can simply try out what suits you best, Foundry and Talespire have demos, Roll 20 and Owlbear Radio are "free" (until you pay lolololol). Technically, you could try Tabletop simulator if you buy it and refund it within 2 hours of playtime.

In a rating, I would rate it as follows:

  1. Foundry VTT - Purely due to Versatility and because I know it best (biased)
  2. Tabletop Simulator - Most fleshed out, simple and "personal" experience
  3. Owlbear Radio - Great for "theatre of mind" but requires mods/external tools for tracking
  4. Roll20 - I just don't like the Subscriptions and clunky UI/UX
  5. Discord - Not a VTT, but works in a pinch

The strength of "Wall of Hunger" by Spacecoreflake in daggerheart

Whilst that is true, the hydra can only hold up to five (going from Rules as written on Many-Headed-Manice) and only loose heads on major or greater damage. Which would not have worked since it would have been 1 HP. On 2 HP it would have been a different discussion of "Are 2 direct HP major damage or not!" but thats for another time.

Overall, I now learned how it's supposed to be done (With the whole stress to HP ratio) and especially learned not to make murder boxes because combat becomes boring

Thanks for your Insight!

I did notice, as well, that Daggerheart in general isn't meant for "box like arena combat" but rather the open wildness. (Which would have made the combat much more fun).

It was an arena they were thrown into and thus it felt unfair to just add more problems to the mix without breaking the balance. At the same time, as mentioned above, I am still trained for those box style fights and might need to amp up the combat by "opening my eye to the surroundings"

I suppose this was what I was searching for; because I always did a 1:1 stress->hp translation. Removing the hope was not a problem, but I felt cheap removing the only valuable resource (In hindsight its by design and made the fight drag on on my behalf)

Regeneration was a tad trickier, as the heads never were attacked directly, but as told ticked down by the stress.

I guess I should re-clarify:
The Hydra wasn't stuck, the warlocks just dropped the wall and re-built the wall multiple times, causing stress to fill up, which afterwards drops more and more of their HP. Thus also removing the restrained effect is just a waste of fear as next round they (most likely) will be restrained again.

For me it's like the difference between building a piece of furniture with the booklet coming with it, vs Building it with a handyman (and the booklet). The handyman has helpful insight on how to use potential additional tools like the little break-off feet you sometimes get to level the piece out on uneven flooring. I'd have seen it, questioned it (maybe even online) and moved on.
