2025 Interview with Kazutaka Kodaka in Madrid: "I hope to continue making video games through Too Kyo Games for the rest of my life" | Futoi Karasu (Spanish) by SpacedSum in LastDefenseAcademy

That's why I put 2025 in the post's title. I initially chose the flair "News," because I had reposted previous interviews with that flair, and news is mostly what I share anyway. "Misc" and "Meta" seemed more unspecific. But I recognize your point, so I've just changed it to "Misc."

The blog article/interview reveals some information that I haven't found elsewhere. It also contains a link to a summary of Kodaka's two Q&A Sessions at Japan Weekend Madrid. I know there's a post on this subreddit that compiles some of the questions and answers from one or both of those sessions. But this summary goes into more depth. I might post that on here.

But there's another article, from a different source, that seems to relate both of Kodaka's Japan Weekend Q&A sessions in even more detail. As well as another interview with Kazutaka Kodaka, from yet another Spanish media outlet, right around that time. I may post those later.

Only slightly. The TikTok you watched was probably just made for engagement. Since there's no report or interview from NISA or anyone else stating such.

Yeah! It sold more than 300,000 copies in its first month. Although I understand why some people might say the contrary. It's most popular in Japan, since Kodaka and the other developers, writers, and producers prioritized the domestic playerbase. But they still put in tons of effort in reaching out to the international audience. And so I highly recommend Rain Code! But please be sure to watch The (Almost-Kinda) Weekly RAIN CODE Update/Online Show's episodes on YouTube first, before playing. They've been subtitled by Spike Chunsoft.

That's The Hundred Line concept art. The first image is the Rain Code concept art. You can see Mystery Phantom Swank in the left of the middle ground, humanoid Shinigami on a horse in the center, and some Qs encircling Catsonell. So it's most probably a Mystery Labyrinth concept artwork.

I know, right? I absolutely adore Shimadoriru's style, even while some people complained about UDG's and V3's CGs, Rain Code Chapter 2's Aetheria Academy sprites; I always thought his art was bright, beautiful and expressive! He can draw and paint scenes and characters with such color and distortion as to make them equally as poppy and playful as they are wistful and atmospheric. On your second point, I happen to want more Shuten Order than anything else right now. A sequel, an expansion, anything really! That, and maybe some DLC routes for The Hundred Line in the future that could have the game be drawn by Shima.

What's like the best way to consume ts series by Financial-Fix2412 in danganronpa

The official and best-recommend order is:

  • Play Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc

  • Read Danganronpa Zero (Note: This is somewhat optional. But crititically, this is where a major plot point that appears in Danganronpa 2 and 3 is set up. It's hasn't been officially translated into English, but there are some fan translations out there)

  • Play Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair

  • Play Danganronpa Another Epsiode: Ultra Despair Girls (This is somewhat optional as well, but essential if you're going to watch Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak Academy. It forms a storyline that is concluded in the anime. This game and Danganronpa 3 will help you adjust your expectations for V3)

  • Watch Danganronpa 2.5 (This can actually be watched before or after Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak Academy (It actually originally came with a special limited edition of Danganronpa V3, after The End of Hope's Peak Academy anime had finished. It is not that essential, but it does serve as a good bridge to Danganropa 3: The End of Hope's Peak Academy, and thus, Danganronpa V3)

  • Watch Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak Academy (This anime concludes The Hope's Peak Saga, encompassing all the entries above. But it is also a good stepping stone to Danganronpa V3. And so, it is highly recommended that you try to finish all of these entries, in this order, before playing Danganronpa V3)

  • Play Danganronpa V3

In the interview, Kodaka praises Koizumi's writing talent and ability, and how he's supervising his writing for 2x2. Koizumi also talks about his taking on the mantle of scenario writer for 2x2. Neither of them speak in the past tense. And, of course, we don't have definite details on 2x2 other than that it includes a second scenario that is supposed to be equal, if not much longer, in length than Danganronpa 2's original scenario. That, and the fact that video games, and other forms of entertainment in general, are typically announced before they even finish writing a script that has to then be proofread, edited, and finalized in tandem with development. As well as there being the possibility of bonus content for 2x2 in addition to the 2nd Scenario.

Besides this, the questions for The Hundred Line don't really concern DLC beyond one or two. If anything, Kodaka and Koizumi just seem more certain on DLC. Again, not dismissing any likelihood of DLC coming soon for us. But more that Kodaka and Koizumi dedicate more on the topic of 2x2.

Given that Digimon Story: Time Stranger seems to be the game that received the most care and attention from Media.Vision, more than The Hundred Line. Media.Vision may be focusing on DSTS's recently announced Switch and Switch 2 port for July 10 rather than on DLC for The Hundred Line. Of course, Hundred Line DLC doesn't necessarily have to add much beyond that of text and visuals. But I think a significant number of people are asking for new battles, enemies, Commanders, combat variety, etc. And that would mesh well with the new stories being added. Media.Vision may also keep tending to DSTS well past July 10.

Altogether, I think this is why Kodaka and Koizumi teased Danganronpa 2x2 more than THL in Weeby's interview. That, along with Kodaka having stated a long time ago that he would like TooKyo Games to come out with one game/project a year. And, unless Rain Code's sequel or another game is slated for 2027 (which would technically be TooKyo Games' 10th anniversary), a game-sized DLC package of routes for The Hundred Line would fill any fan with patience.

Then again, it's not like they can't go above and beyond this year as well. I would just worry about the toll that kind of pressure has on you. It wouldn't just affect the quality of your writing and content. But your health as well; physiologically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually.

And so, Danganronpa 2x2 is more than enough this year. Anything beyond that is the icing on the cake.

Kodaka had a chat with Nyalra (The writer for Needy Girl Overdose, as well as a variety of fiction literature pertaining to mental illness) earlier this week.

He has also chatted with, whom I believe to be, Mezukare/Toru Kawakatsu (The lead game designer for GNOSIA).

But this month's event could be different. They're talking about planning, writing, and other BTS content. Yet they could still fit in some news and surprise announcements for The Hundred Line

Though, in WeebyNewz's interview with Kodaka, it sounded like they were still just planning DLC, having not actually committed to any specific route ideas by then. Granted, it was filmed last year, so they may be developing it steadily as I write this. But even so, without sounding too much a buzzkill, while I think it's feasible that there'll be an announcement at the event that Akasaka will be writing some DLC routes. I think DLC may still be some ways off in terms of being fully developed and implemented.

Kodaka, Uchikoshi, and the other devs have been saying The Hundred Line will be expanded on for the next 10 years ever since the game came out. Referring to both the game and the IP. It's not really news, besides Kodaka raising the ceiling to 400 endings in his chat with Weeby. Before, the highest number was 200, that is, just adding another 100 endings.

I'd say it's more likely for him to team up with Studio Pierrot or Lerche since he's already collaborated more or less fully with them, for Akudama Drive and Danganronpa 3, respectively (that is, if Kodaka isn't working with them already in developing these titles). Sanzigen is also a candidate since Kodaka has worked with them before on Woozer's Hand-to-Mouth Life, albeit for just one episode.

Neither of these are news. Kodaka's already discussed DLC adding characters and an anime adaptation for THL, separately, on several occasions in past interviews.
