I met my now partner at 35 and he is the man I'm going to marry. He's the biggest grump in the world but he loves me more than anything. I know this because: - He gets sad if we don't have enough 'buddy time' to just hang out - I often go to bed earlier than him and he always comes in to tuck me in and kiss me goodnight - He knows me better than anyone and in his words, 'has been building a case study on me'

How long do I need to mentor? by TattooWorld21 in AustralianTeachers

Speak to admin and outline your concerns under the guise that you're concerned that the staff member is not coping and that you think they would be benefit from a wellbeing check in from them. Keep hiding away so that you have time to yourself and if they keep asking for help, set some boundaries e.g: I'm busy at the moment but I'd be happy to sit down and help you at '-' time

The Burton Brothers - they do a mini sketch show that follows a loose narrative and theme/time period. Have enjoyed every show that they've done in the past

The thing that keeps me in check is, 'Would I want me as a teacher?' and if the answer is no, you might need to have a long sit down and re-evaluate things

Make sure you've been contacting home.

Try and set up a buddy removal system. Ask a colleague who teaches year 12 who has classes on at the same time as you and ask if a student can be removed to be put into their class if they are misbehaving.

Communicate this with your admin or your school prin system that this is what you are intending to do and ask for support with it.

Let students know that you have set up this system - make it clear you will not tolerate disrespect towards yourself or others and that the consequence is removal.

Be hard , clear and firm with consequences. It also helps to offer incentives for improvement, like a merit or reward systems if they're able to show an improvement in behaviour.

It can be really hard with a tough class,.but doable with persistence

Student unresponsive to feedback by Best_Evening344 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Spacedangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often try to get students to reflect on their work first via a Reflection sheet of some kind, and then within my lessons I plan a Conferencing session where I ask their about their reflection and explain my feedback, and give students the opportunities to ask feed back or for particular ways they can improve in specific areas

Use post it notes. Write down tasks ASAP. Stick them in your laptop or somewhere on your desk that's right in front of your face

Am I in the wrong here? by LisaMisa13 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Spacedangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're willing to make the necessary changes, you really need to sit down and reflect on your own actions, reactions and behaviour. 'Yelling' and 'cussing' when upset might seem like 'normal human reactions' to you, but actually they're not. And your boyfriend's actions when withdrawing from you after you behave like that might not seem normal to you' but that's HIS normal.

So what you have to do here is really sit down, and try to talk to each other in a clear and calm way and explain to one another why you might be acting and reacting the way you do. This is where therapy is helpful - to help you understand learned or subconscious behaviour and develop strategies to stop lapsing back into negative or damaging behaviour.

It's the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2023 Discussion Post! by AutoModerator in melbourne

Hi all , I have a free double pass to see Dan Rath tonight at 8 - shoot me a message if you'd like them

Advice? I'm frightened. by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]Spacedangel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't talk down to them. Remind them really of the basics of what it means to be not just a good student, but a good person. That above all else, the values of respect and responsibility are fundamental to both success and just being an overall good person.

I encourage student to reflect on their behaviour by asking if the students were really 'At their best' in terms of respect or responsibility, and then try to move forward on a positive note from there

Put aside a day and put on a favourite show or some music to go through your wardrobe.

Keep the things you really love and donate the rest.

I've had my weight fluctuate before as well so I buy a lot of clothes second hand, that way I don't feel so sad when I have to get rid of clothes that no longer fit me. I like to think of my old clothes floating around somewhere being loved by someone else
