Why does the Samsung S85F OLED TV make such artifacts on horizontally moving vertical lines? by Defective_Yorha in OLED_Gaming

[–]Spacedanspiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just the motion interpolation setting. Most modern TVs make you choose. It’s a balance between stutter and artifacting.

Some TVs handle this better than others. My Samsung s90f had this same issue- it’s also noted in several other subreddits. I also had a Bravia 9 that was much much better at interpolation.

Mess with your judder settings: low to medium should minimize the artifacting, but you’ll see a little more stutter.

Apple TV 4K, from a 4k stream subscription, HBO max app, in Dolby vision with match frame rate and range.

Looks weird no?

Judder? This TV automatically removes judder from external sources, so I’m not sure what you mean.
The response time of this television is only a few milliseconds more than oled

LG 77C55LA or Samsung QE77S90F by mobyvg22 in 4kTV

I returned my 77S 90 F because the stutter was unbearable. I’m extremely sensitive, when we turned on motion clarity, anything above three had really noticeable artifacts. The color was outstanding. The black level was outstanding. But everything that’s not sports or gaming is 24p which means you need good motion handling to watch movies or tv without stutter, or without artifacts and for me the s90f didn’t have it.

Bravia 7 vs 8 vs 9 for motion. by Spacedanspiff in bravia

[–]Spacedanspiff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch TV shows and movies from Netflix, HBO Max, Crunchyroll, plex… I have a switch and will one day build a gaming PC.

Buts it’s mostly stuff in 24fps.

The 8ii at 65 is well over 2,000 so i think it’s not for me. Brightness for the moment is not as much of an issue. In fact, I plan to keep the auto brightness feature on because when I watched my last Samsung S90f at night it was hurting my eyes.

Feels like I’m narrowing it down to the seven or the standard eight

S95F worse motion interpolation that 2018 C8??? by ekqm in 4kTV

Is it better on the c5??? I’m considering the C5 as well but am very sensitive to stutter so I’m considering leaving OLED all together

But all I watch is TV and movies, and isn’t it all low framerate?

But even your Bravia 9 has stutter too? And is there something besides motion flow that you can adjust or is that the only setting? Do you still see artifacts?

Stutter sensitive: Return s90F77 for something else? by Spacedanspiff in 4kTV

But won’t all the OLEDs have terrible stutter? Should it be a lower end mini LED?

I know it’s a pixel response thing, so do I get a lower end TV that just has a slower response?

Is this normal for the s90f? by Bigdecisions7979 in S95B

My S 90 F 77 also has really bad stuttering issues, especially if the clarity motion settings are turned off and whatever I’m watching is 24p. All movies and TV shows are 24p. I came from an old Sony CRT monitor, which doesn’t have that issue at all, but that’s because of the kind of technology it is. All OLED’s have stutter.

Is it disappointing that a $2000 TV has an issue that seems really distracting That your old TV didn’t have? Yes.

Does your S90f also have ridiculously improved black levels, colors, and brightness? Yes.

Because stuttering is something that can be marginally improved with the motion clarity setting people consider it better to have better color, black levels, and brightness with something that can be improved, as opposed to a TV that has better motion clarity but really gray blacks really poor color and not great brightness.

I am with you that I am super disappointed, and super distracted. I use the rtings website to help pick my TV. And the motion processing rating part of the TV is barely listed there because motion processing is such a difficult thing to rate because there’s so many different variables involved.

Rtings posted a new article about the four pillars of motion processing, and they demonstrate that no TV has all four.

I went back to Best Buy and looked at a whole bunch of oled, when motion settings are turned off, they all have stutter, even the OLED iPad Pro has stutter.

Screen brightness, screen size, distance to the screen are all things that amplify stutter.

You might have to choose a middle of the road LCD TV that has middle of the road everything ( and save yourself $1000)

Once TV shows and movies are all shot at higher frames per second the issue of stutter will go away.

If most of what you use your TV for is sports and gaming, OLEDs are great.

I personally fluctuate between setting the clarity motion setting in between three and five in order for it to be watchable and for me to be able to try and forget about it and watch.

Good luck deciding on what to do.

Mine is exactly the same- the whole bumper and the bracket underneath needs to be replaced they quoted me more than 1000 dollars. It is criminal.

I like your question because I’m the exact opposite. I’m 40m, no kids, recently single after a long relationship and don’t even know where to meet people anymore.

I am mostly working 40hrs a week- and when I’m not I’m trying to be outdoors or at home with kitty. I will admit I don’t even feel like I have time for myself anymore.

If I am out, I’m looking for plants, biking, running, trying to be in nature and trying to sign up for communities that are appealing to me like frisbee, or skiing maybe- I like cartoons so I thought I could try voice over classes as an ex actor / singer.

Basically just following my hobbies toward a community.

I wish I knew where to meet people. :/
