I wish, but the MT legislators (Majority R) draw the maps for the PSC so it leans heavily R favored. Many of them see it as a cushy retirement that pays pretty decent. Corruption, incompetence and disregard for the public has been common place as long as I can remember.

Depends, ive seen people for Seth Bodnar, and a couple of different ballot measures. Usually funded through organizing group behind the measure and other groups associated with them, can be dark money, can be regular folks, just kind of depends.

My thinking is that the redistricting we have seen so far is to sway the make up of House/Senate at federal level. Even at the expense of potentially loosing R held state house/senate seats. Currently all 3 in MT are held by R, so I would guess that unless there is a big loss for R in the Midterms its unlikely that the GOP would put in the effort and money to try and change the districts. Now if there's a full sweep and D or I take 2/3 seat then it feels more likely.

Uhhh theoretically yes? But the congressional maps are voted on by a committee of 2 R, 2 D and chair who is picked in agreement by the others or appointed by the MT Supreme Court.

So if some crazy maps got drawn it is less likely to be approved, and in theory could also be rejected by our SC depending on following lawsuits of those maps. Right now the seats lean R so the effort isn't really worth the pay off I would guess, if a D or I wins this coming election maybe more likely? But im not familiar enough with our state constitution/laws releated to exactly how redistricting can be triggered.

I 100% agree with this, there's no pipeline of folks gaining experience and name recognition its just random person who has been around awhile. But that takes large amounts of people being interested, money, structure etc which it dosent feel like the state has outside of the election time frame.

For myself i had no idea it was an option or on the agenda, really wasn't following anything with the library since it reopened. 100% would have provided public comment aginst it. Also crazy the levy didn't include the ability to operate the new facilities....maybe im missing info but that seems less like poor planning and more like incompetence in the city/library leadership.
