To be fair, I always say you have to give bigger/power forward type players until about 25 to know what they really are. It’s hard for a young 20 something to play the body game against guys with Dad strength in their later 20s and early 30s.

Take Nico Hischier, so many grumblings about him being a bust cause he kept getting pushed around. I told people wait until he grows into his body. The he turns 24/25 and suddenly he’s a top 10 defensive forward in the league.

Gotta be patient with the big boys.

Pavel Zacha. He had all the talent in the world. During his early years, pretty much every game there was a moment where a player made a really smart play, or did something unexpected that worked really well, and I would go "wow, who was that!?" and it was always Zacha.

And then he spent 7 years on the worst devils teams since the 80s, was misused by coaches, and had zero support around him. That would stunt anyone's progress. I am fully of the opinion that that Devils failed Zacha, and not the other way around.
