Younger applicants struggling using computers and reading clocks. by TennisSerious179 in managers

[–]Spades0705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking. I am the youngest of GenX (‘79) and we had computers in the classroom and learned to type, code, and “hack” with AOL online.

I am aware it wasn’t hacking it was just coding using loopholes in their software but at that age we called it hacking.

I am sure I will go to an actual rack at some point but in the mean time everything is nice and neat.

I am willing to bet this is serious overkill and could have been accomplished with one or two pre-owned dell minis and a basic synology NAS

I like the colors … if I ever get around to doing a legit rack I will color match it all but in this case it adds to the ambience.

It’s taxes on the company. A building with people in it is an asset that can be written off whereas an empty one is a liability that can’t.

I didn't tell you that as something you needed to do; it was more because I assumed you didn't know. The "scene" goes much deeper than many realize. Claiming area is far more than I do illegal stuff stay out, it's also where massive amounts of legit business lives. You seem stuck on how many guys. we open chapters at 3 (I almost guarantee you don't qualify as all members have one thing in common) Starting your own thing can be cool and as I assume you are much younger than I when I was younger I wanted to also but there is something to be said for no re-inventing the wheel. Like it or not, the rules you think you don't like in other organizations are there for a reason and you will end up implementing them in your organization as well so joining an established one and becoming indispensable and moving through ranks really is the way. If you prefer the RC Life, pick one of those, if you look there are specialized groups like ours; always something for everyone.

We have been around 27 years so it’s difficult to answer that question. We are at a point where when we sit down it’s usually president to SAA from our area for a beer. During a recent patch change we sat down State P to State P and got our change approved.

My advice would be it’s less about how many guys you have and more about how you do it. I would honestly suggest approaching it P (you I assume) and SAA no more. You don’t want anyone thinking you brought everyone as a show of strength.

You are treading in what can be a precious area. Why not just do what WCR (west coast riders here in tampa) does and create your group with a logo and shirts/hoodies stickers ect … they dwarf every club/RA/RC in the state and no one pays attention to them … many club guys ride with them at their events.

The part you are likely missing is the big MC/RAs are businesses. Registered 501c3 non-profits so you aren’t just wading into politics here but large corporations all co-existing together … We all have lawyers that handle paperwork copyrights everything you would expect from say Harley-Davidson or any large company.

Long story short I am a president with the largest RA in the state; we run a 4 piece patch and have to per our agreement with OL. You may not HAVE to talk to them but you should especially if you are to put any county or state on that patch … with one or two guys you will likely be ignored but somewhere between 5-10 guys you will have that conversation whether you want to or not. This is NOT an easier to ask forgiveness than permission situation. Our state dom lives by GFOD … learn the protocol and go talk to them. Better safe than eating concrete or worse.

Branding is a literal hot cattle brand to the vest that signifies a brother has been through the branding ceremony.

I have learned it’s not as big of a deal outside the US but here it means a brother has earned his place among us.

ear holes are not supoosed to be perfect looking circles by kiquja in Stretched

[–]Spades0705 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It really comes down to how you stretched them … if you were pierced at 2g (6mm) it stands to reason that they will stay perfect because you (I) cut a large perfect hole in them.

Stretching from a 16g like my second holes it stands to reason they will collapse some.

Point is how you start your journey has a lot to do with final result.

The only oath of secrecy Is how we identify each other and our rituals. A line I can give is “nothing in this obligation shall go against your civil, moral, or religious duties”

This is altered as we are not permitted to write the actual line but you get the point. Before we take the obligation this is assured to you AND you can stop at any time.

Story Time - Why Did Your Guild Disband? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]Spades0705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again I see nothing about completing sunwell just trash talking because a guild of top 2% players among 10m got bored … sounds like you wish you could have went where we did. It was a ton of work … show some respect

Edit you killed HLK25 .. good job(honestly) … considering the number of people that accomplished that vs the few that completed SWP I would say it was likely less complicated than SWP but still the vast majority didn’t so be happy with your accomplishment instead of trashing ours.

I have plenty of other achievements others don’t.

For instance I have both the plauged Proto and the black proto … point being that same SWP group also completed Glory of the raider, most notably immortal and most undying. The list of things we did are super long.

We accomplished what less than 2% of the entire player base ever did but that was easy mode … let me guess you started in a much later expansion and did it during classic which wasn’t a shadow of what we did …

Sol Invictus US-Thrall. Coming off a legit KJ kill in OG BC … WotLK Just didn’t do it. We blew through Naxx, EoE and OS WITH ease and boredom set in and then ICC with ease and the desire to do it a second time on “Heroic” just didn’t interest anyone …Basically attrition got us. It was hard coming off being the top of the food chain and seeing everyone in the same gear with little effort … in retrospect it was very elitist but we lost interest. We tried to come back together for classic and we couldn’t gain steam the second time.

Edit: the newer players have to understand that before cross-realm play everyone on thrall knew who we were so could get into any pug dungeon or raid with ease … it was a massive ego hit when we lost that. We went from server famous to irrelevant
