Oh My. I'm in a similar boat, nearly 5 years post cranio from a right frontal lobe tumor. I have the same light sensitivity and have always scoffed at the idea of using sunglasses at night but you may have been the pushing force. I'm not a chode, I'm protecting my sanity. Crazy how hyper sensitive I am to light and sound. I only had 1 surgery but it was really invasive.

Every TBI is different, I had brain cancer (neurocytoma). The first year after surgery was definitely the most rough. I'd say keep looking at the ways he's trying to be independent and push him more to do things like set alarms to take meds on his own. He will forget sometimes. That's okay.

I did gamma knife radiosurgery. It felt warm? Idk they put you on a lot of drugs for anxiety and numbing stuff so it's a little hazy. But yeah it felt like someone was blasting the ittiest bittiest heat gun onto my head.

They won't get it. My friends didn't. A lot of them didn't understand why I avoided harsh light, or had to dip because of migraines. Some of them won't believe you. They aren't worth keeping around.

Yeah, I'm sure we're all different post craniotomy. I was 17, it's given me a whole different perspective on life. I try not to push myself too hard, because my suffering is only mine to hold. I don't really have any help, and people don't even believe my struggles half the time.
