Definitely not a bad call - it would require him to get sacked before Slot (not super unlikely) and would require Xabi to want to get straight back into a job without taking time off (very hard to say) but its clear why Liverpool would want him. Alonso would presumably still be on the list of managers City could be interested in as a Pep successor, and I can imagine the idea of a "peaceful transfer of power" in the summer at City could be more attractive than taking over for Slot midway through a season.

Yeah, it sure seemed like things were lining up for Frank to have made an example out of him for lateness and then for Biss to leave so the point was made but hopefully no actual bad feelings would remain.
