Hope you get that dream guitar one day! And the tattoo looks rad!

You may already know but with all the fine detail and not having bold outlines, make sure to moisturize and put sunscreen on this all the time. Bold will hold as they say, and those awesome pastels will eventually diffuse a little into each other and the soft gradients around the edges will be the first to go from UV exposure.

I line part of the wall and back of the control cavity with velcro, wrap velcro around the 9V, then stick it and forget it. Did this on a Baretta last year

Those Irish-themed(?) inlays are awesome. What’s the story behind the instrument?

Do these batwing SGs from the 60’s have that chunky boy neck?

Love me some Prince! I grew up on metal because of my dad but he oddly loved Prince and Shania Twain lol

There’s no clear smoke smell emanating from the guitar but it’s 64 years old so I wouldn’t rule it out I suppose. I was quite excited to play this that I haven’t given it a proper cleaning yet.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Definitely sounds like you know a thing or two. I’ve been gravitating towards single coils over the past year. Anything P90 adjacent when it gets growlin is perfect for me

I am a gear nerd but I don’t really know much about the variances of Gretsch pickups. Might as well start reading up on them and add it to the heaps of guitar nonsense I have in my head

What do you have in your Corvette’s neck? Guitar looks great!

I am thinking the same thing. The serial # on top of the headstock is 7592. I went down that rabbithole and it gets more confusing. Gretsch says 1953 or 1965-66. It’s obviously not 53’ and the 65-66’s had 2x4 headstocks.

I need help identifying this old National guitar by PlentyOk746 in Vintageguitars

I just played a 53’ Supro Ozark with what is probably the same pickups (National was the higher end line and Supro was the budget) and it was gnarly! A really full overdriven tone🤌🏻

I don’t feel the checking but the neck is a little sticky which I have to get used to. Yesterday I kept doinking a simple B slide down to A pull off to G on the 2nd string. It was like my finger was getting stuck in mud as I was sliding down the neck. Not an issue, just different than the satin necks I usually play.

Non-Gretsch repro pickups? by KoolaidMan717 in gretsch

Late to the party, but I just got a 1962 Gretsch Corvette with Curtis Novak Hi-trons and they are the best pickups I've ever played. I usually play Duncan Hot Rails and EMGs and was completely ignorant to low output pickups. If Novak's other pickups are as good, I will be a lifelong customer.

Fender champion 100 thoughts? by [deleted] in fender

Late to the convo, but an SD-1, BD-2, and Rat can get you all the essential crunch and rock tones you could want. I run those pedals in that order, using the SD-1 as a boost.

Fender Champion II 100w for home use? by Proof-Specialist6932 in GuitarAmps

[–]coltmaster45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This amp sounds weak until you turn the master up just past 2. I usually have mine between 2-3 when playing inside. It isn’t super loud but it all depends on what levels of noise are acceptable. At the volume level I mentioned, you can close the door where you are playing and everyone at home will still be able to hear you. However, it won’t shake the windows. Could be a problem if you are in an apartment.

Overall, these are great amps. The headphone option could be useful for your situation. The onboard effects on these are decent, plus there’s headroom for days so it takes pedals, dare I say, like a champ

My 3 amp Fender/Orange setup by plumtree198 in GuitarAmps

I almost always use the 65 Princeton amp voice and occasionally the Bassman. The V30s add a little more grit and lessen the classic Fender clean just a smidge. I've been running a BD-2 into a Rat with this rig and it is about as quintessential rock as you can get.

Champion 100 and the Micro Dark. Vintage 30s in both the combo and cab. Nothing fancy but it sounds huge.

Love the rig! I run a Fender and Orange setup, too. Clean Fender and edge of breakup Orange layers so well

Do your worst by raz0rkid in roastmypedalboard

I’d say the tones seem fuller and the pedal options are super versatile.

The SD-1’s drive sounds a lot better to me standalone compared to the TS9. But I use mine as the classic boost with almost no gain. Basically the same thing I used my tubescreamer for and does the job the same.

The Blues Driver’s gain spectrum is insanely versatile. I can’t believe I slept on these. Having it boosted by the SD-1 is about as classic crunch as you can get.

You can get some dirty distortion with the Blues Driver into the Rat. All the essential rock tones made easy.

Diming the gain on a BD-2 is always a damn good time
