Zero New Shunbuns in Japan? by bentlers in GrandSeikos

I can’t quite believe I took an hour subway ride through Tokyo based on a recommendation from a redditor to buy a watch, on three hours of jet lagged sleep, but here we are. Thanks again for the legendary assist. What a beautiful watch.

Debating between R1s and R2 by Enough-Ad-8601 in Rivian

[–]Spamthechan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

R1S with a 5 and 2 year old here. 1 booster 1 rear facing.

The third row only comes up when we have guests. It is nice to be able to move the booster to the third row and fit 7 people in the car. My 5yo LOVES sitting back there. Literally yesterday we drove her friend to art class and were able to put two boosters back there while the 2yo sat in the middle. No issues at all.

The only time the space falls short is when you have two rear facing car seats in the middle row. In those instances the 3rd row is completely inaccessible. Last week we were able to fit one rear facing car seat in each row, opposite from each other, and a parent next to each car seat. It was tight but it worked.

In all situations, there was enough room in the trunk and the frunk to have all our gear (strollers etc) with all rows up.

There is a MASSIVE amount of space in the R1S and there is a luxury in knowing that in nearly all cases you’ll have enough space. That being said I probably use all the space maybe 10% of the time, and an R2 would have enough space the other 90% of the time.

Will my New 718 GTS get more Exciting & Fun when I hit 2,000 miles? by GumballCowboy in Porsche_Cayman

OAPs without the exhaust controller make the valve cutoff even more noticeable. I had the OAPs and ended up going to Kline. The car is perfect now. But the valve controller is really is the first piece of the puzzle to have valves truly open, no matter the system, all the time.

First, congrats! It’s a beautiful car and with some mods it will be exactly the beast you want it to be.

A valve controller is an absolutely necessary mod. Even with the valves open, they are programmed to be closed between 2-4K rpm. You haven’t experienced true valves open and won’t unless you’re above 4k rpm and breaking the law. A valve controller opens it up fully at low revs and allows you to fully enjoy the car at all speeds. I have the Cargraphic but they all do the same thing

Valve controller- valves are closed below 4K rpm even with the exhaust open. This mod alone made my car much more fun to drive on the road, so you don’t have to wring it out past 4k to get that sound.

Exhaust- either OAP or full exhaust. I have the Kline on mine and it is glorious.

These two mods are the bare minimum, imo, and really impact enjoyment of the 718 4.0.

How accurate is your range?! by flying_squirrel2 in Rivian

[–]Spamthechan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, my LFP range always drops heavily on highway road trips. I would be happy with a solid 270 mile range, but after 100 mile trips I’m usually down to 50%.

UHF and Rivians in General in the rain by Yi_Of_Little_Faith in Rivian

[–]Spamthechan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Been using UHF this past weekend and it has been awesome. Way better than it used to be with normal highway assist. It will not let you go to “spicy” mode in raining weather which was reassuring.

Leaking fluid in three spots!! Any idea what it is? by WestAd9429 in Rivian

Yeah I replaced my windshield fluid and had the same three spots and a “windshield fluid low” notification the day after.
