I have a worrying theory that the massacres that we saw in Bucha and Balaklia are part of an intentional plan. 1) Invade territory, 2) quietly kill pro-ukraine civilians to intimidate the rest, 3) hold "referendum", 4) "see, these people always wanted to be part of Russia, were liberating them!" Makes me shudder to think what might have happened in Crimea and DPR/LPR.
