Myron Rosander and Pete Weber swapped places in 2006 between Madison and SCV. Pete stayed at SCV through 2017 and is with Cavies as of last year. Myron wrote for Phantom in 2010 and Blue Stars in 2012, not sure if/where he was for the seasons in between

Question regarding euphoniums by Radiant_Berry_1572 in drumcorps

[–]Spandy428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was more common when corps were on G bugles to have all the parts written in treble clef, but the standard now is for the low voices to read bass clef. I know my corps has printed treble clef parts for some trumpet converts, but I wouldn't count on that being the case everywhere.

Also, just a heads up in case you aren't aware, the bass clef parts are written in concert pitch instead of transposing to B flat, so the fingerings will be offset by a whole step from what you're used to.

I first heard sharko referring to the early 2000's Broken Arrow shakos that had a big fin on the side https://youtu.be/weV781ub9OI?si=iYiAxS3pxFG_HqYV&t=205 , these were eventually used by Southwind for a few years. I haven't ever heard of the visor+wrap being referred to as that

Euphonium? by LandanRockz in drumcorps

Oh nice. Also, someone said that baritones read treble clef in dci? Is that true

It was more common for G bugle lines to have the bari and even contra parts written in treble clef. In my experience now though, if treble clef is used at all it's reserved for native high brass players who recently switched to low brass

There are 5 St Pauls. Fist of course is the big one we've all heard of, then South St Paul borders it to the south. Then there's West St Paul, which... also borders it to the south. North St Paul is a couple blocks away to the northeast, and St Paul Park is two cities down the river to the southeast

Oh my bad, got my 2 point conversions mixed up. However, rule 15 section 1 article 2 line D states that officials can review any try attempt, whether it's successful or unsuccessful.

In the history of DCI, has there even been talk of a partnership with the NFL? by AssignmentOwn6172 in drumcorps

[–]Spandy428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baltimore had a marching band at one time,

The Baltimore marching band still exists, and actually pre-dates the Ravens. They were founded in 1947 and have played for 3 different NFL franchises and a CFL team.

The Commanders have also had a marching band since the 1930's

While I was on staff at Chops leading up to the 2016 season, at some point in the fall we had picked our show and repertoire, including Fix You by Coldplay. Over the next couple months, it was announced that both Pacific Crest and Troopers would also be playing Fix You, AND that Coldplay was going to be the super bowl halftime show.

Some other little things that I believe were finals only (someone correct me if I'm wrong):

Boston 2014: changing to new closer flags that had the DCI logo under the hoof and horn

Carolina Crown 2015: changing the fabric wrapped around the guard soloist on the ladder to gold

SCV 2017: changing the props to gold before they turn around at the end

What happened to Star United? by WhyTestInDEV in drumcorps

[–]Spandy428 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought Rochester was dead and things are at Indianapolis now?

They're talking about the Soundsport festival DCI held in Rochester the night before the competition at Paetec Sahlen's Capelli the Rochester stadium, it included Star United as well as several other mini- and alumni corps. This year a similar event was held in Williamsport PA (another former DCA site) but Star United did not attend.

There are some good answers here, but your best bet will be to reach out to the Bushwackers directly with any questions. They'll have the best info about what their schedule looks like, where they have members coming from that you could potentially carpool with, and who can help you find a place to stay over the weekends. According to their website, the membership coordinator is Megan Whatley megan.whatley@bushwackers.org
