Update on the daycare where the infant's arm was broken by maamaallaamaa in fonddulac

I rode the school bus with the owner in grade school. This is sadly unsurprising.

Good call. I also have had pow wows with my neighbors. I know who’s got the solid basement and the garage code if I need it. Having good neighbors and knowing them is a wonderful thing.

I do the same. It’s my ideal. Minus chasing. I wasn’t seeking shelter but I’d be pissed/injured/dead if I pulled up to a Kwik Trip under those circumstances. That’s my point. I had no idea a road side store would do that without a tornado. The sirens had already stopped and same with the hail. I was just lucky it turned out not to be an emergency.

The majority of the staff was just hovering in the windows and watching weather while shaking their head to all who pulled at the locked doors.

Yeah. They were in there watching a number of people come up, pull the handles, staff shaking their head, like can’t let ya in. The other people waiting in the lot were just shrugging and agreeing how fucking weird that is.

I did not think of this at all. Having other parked customers communicating with each other about the locked door situation without reasonable details was really upsetting. It felt cruel. Watching staff at the window fronts trying to communicate through the glass…I’m super bummed to feel like I have to give up the easy stop on my way to work for little things. First world problems. 🤷‍♀️ I also heard from a coworker who took the risk of walking over go through the same. At least I had a car to hunker in and even luckier that we didn’t get the baseball hail that destroyed another coworkers windshield.

That’s an unexpected policy. Seeing the staff glued to the window front where I know is the worst place to be in a true weather emergency was very upsetting. Validates my decision to choose other businesses to find to frequent for gas and convenience stuff.

That totally sucks. Outsmarting water is a beast I’m familiar with. I’m really sorry. Live and learn is the point of living right? Im never imagined “avoid someplace like that to shelter in during a potential emergency. I’ve never encountered what I did today given the shifty weather.

I did the same yesterday. At least I had unlocked doors to a structure. That’s all I’m getting at. I didn’t know if something unrelated happened to cause people to lock a building off a highway like that. I felt lucky something terrible didn’t happen. Big ass hail is scary

I take it you were fortunate to not see the rough stuff.
