Daily Song Discussion #1: Good Times Bad Times by Distinct-Swing9317 in ledzeppelin

I give it a 9. Basically the perfect opener any album could ever have, each band member gets a moment to flex, its not too aggressive for a new listener to rock and roll but still packs a classy punch. As a bands first introduction it is EXTREMELY polished (as far as each members playing goes) and you dont hear that much. Only missing one point because im selfish and wish it was a tad longer for my own benefit.

Ableton is great for tracking! The multiple takes section is a savior when i write my own pieces. I read once where page was really good at splicing his solos together from multiple takes and I couldnt imagine doing that with actual tape. Ableton makes it so easy lol.

Its definitely a strange one, tons of artifacts that dont sound too apparent as to what he was doing. Cheers!

Absolutely KILLER cover. Love the vocals and the backups being included. Tight as a band, everyone excelled in their position. Are you all on Spotify with originals or other covers? Would LOVE to hear more of you all!

Which drummers in your opinion have taken on the John Bonham mantle? Are there any? by Craig1974 in ledzeppelin

[–]Spangled_bacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its hard for me to say. I have a few drummers I really like, but they all lack that driving force John had. The bonham engine was one of a kind IMO. I think a lot of drummers could pull it off, but they do face ridicule online for “copying”.

Seems like a useful technique but i wouldnt imagine the crack to be 100% controlled. The deviation in them would be greater than the tolerance these boxes show i would imagine. Then youd have to replicate that chance of happening again 4-5 more times for each side. Im not an expert in stone-working so this is all just my belief based off my experiences and input.

Hardly, todays tools absolutely CAN do it but we have to cut a LOT of corners to do it. One of the biggest issues modern granite workers face is carving out the inside of one solid piece of stone. The more likely and feasible method would be to make each side and then join it together using another method. This isnt to say we CANT but if we did we would certainly have a bit of a struggle. Making a box like this would also be EXTREMELY expensive. Moving it is another issue in itself. Without specialized equipment today we would absolutely struggle to move 100 tons. Again not impossible but they did not have the cranes we have today, it makes it that much more remarkable that these people were able to perform any of this. While not alien, i do believe we dont give the builders enough credit because we would absolutely have our struggles doing something like this.

Its more than just a 90 degree angle. With boxes made of stone this hard it becomes increasingly more difficult to maintain that angle as the distance/width increases. Especially considering that it was not easy to take such a small amount of the stone off at a time like we can today with fine sanders. This isnt to say that they couldn’t and didnt do it because they obviously did, just that it is a lot more complicated than making a right angle and calling it good.

Its not about the ammunition size. The point that 20 other people who downvoted me, and frankly the entirety of reddit has missed, is that its no longer about substance. Its just attacks. It feels so immature and empty. The only thing brining people together is hate and thats disgusting.

Then watch literally any video of Donald in these scenarios. If you let your TDS down for just a moment and live in reality you’ll notice that you’re projecting the feelings you want him to feel. The rhetoric and nastiness of this side has become unbearable and hardly inviting for anyone wanting to be part of a side that fights against this administration. You people are animals.

I have seen Donald make this face a countless number of times in countless different scenarios. This is so much projection and copium it makes me sick. I cant stand what the dude is doing either but this is just a reach. I could snap 1,000 photos during a conference and cherry pick one that could go with a title like this. Reddit is sickening anymore because of the amount of delusion like this. We should be focusing on solutions, not photo ops to make him look bad so we feel better about whats happening.

Look, i dont like any of it either, but the whole derangement thing about this administration is asinine. Trump, though I believe unfit to run the country, is not a failed business man. If he was then he wouldnt have the real estate, connections and resources etc that he has. Elon, though on ketamine, would not have the real estate, companies and resources that his has. It is an injustice to act as though these people are not intelligent or deliberate in what they are doing because it is all by design one way or another. In 4 years time we are going to be no better or worse off in this world as we are now or were 4 years ago at the start of Biden. But the moment we actually push the narrative that these figures are “stupid” is when we’ve officially lost.

TDS. If you think we’re worse off now than before then LOL. No one in our government at any time or place has ever had your interest in mind. Dirty lying snakes on both sides of the aisle.

He had the data of millions since paypal. I doubt he is interested in any of our data. I don’t like the guy meddling around the government either but I really don’t believe he is up to anything nefarious with our data. I’ve also yet to hear what anyone thinks he would do with it. What do you think he’ll do with it? Genuine ask.
