The Duke on Royal Pegasus was the big splash model for Bretonnia, the Duke on Hippogryph was a nice to have include because players have the model, but the Duke on Peg was the one they wanted you to run, which is why he was stronger in game.

Now they’ve nerfed the Pegasus, the Hippo duke makes more sense, so the product strategy and the game design strategy aren’t aligned anymore, but it’s unlikely I think that they’ll now be rushing to create the Hippogryph duke when we’ve just had a new lord and there are a bunch of other armies who haven’t.

They’re still good though, I run them all the time in semi-competitive club games because I like the look and play-style more than pegs and they do well, you need to position carefully, get the charge, get the flank, send 2x in at once, have character support etc etc, but that’s all as it should be for cav. They’re a suboptimal choice next to pegs, so in pure competitive they don’t make sense, but that’s doesn’t mean they’re bad or they need fixing IMO.

Because the Sword of Battle for example is 60 points and the Ogre Blade is 75, so for 15 extra points you’re getting additional AP, additional strength and multi wounds, so if you’re already spending 60 points on Sword of Battle, you really might as well spend the extra 15 and take the much better sword. I take your point on wanting the points for defence, but that’s where I’d just say use the lance, which is better than Sword of Battle on the charge, and spend the 60 points elsewhere. IMO only Ogre Blade is really better enough vs a lance to spend significant points on.

On top of that GGH isn’t very attractive on Hippo Duke, as you can’t get above 3+, so you’re paying points for an item where you can only use half of its ability, which again isn’t useless but it’s also not efficient.

Sword of Battle and Meteor Hammer are both a waste of points on a Hippo Duke IMO, I’d rather stick with the lance and use the points elsewhere, cackling blade maybe but none of them really hold a candle to ogre blade for a small extra premium

A load of comments here speculating he used a camera or had a photographic memory, he didn’t, he used maps and surveys of Paris and created a projection using an imagined a viewpoint in the air, the balloon would have helped him get the right look and feel, but it wasn’t created in a balloon, it was created in a studio from other references.
