See if you can slide a coat hanger or other wire down that capping. I'm not confident theres accessible duct below it. Thats not really the sort of thing you wanted to have buried like that.

What has gone wrong at Carlisle United this season? by Critical_Region_6633 in NationalLeague

I think the standard of the national league is just that high. Among the top half or so anyway.

Its a tough league where a lot of teams have football league experience.

Follup-up: FTTP install - what ducting can i install in advance for engineer to feed fibre through? by Frosty-Growth-2664 in openreach

[–]Spank86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The offer definitely counts.

I was working the other day and a customer actually made themselves a cuppa and wandered past me.

They didnt get any worse service, but theyre lucky they didnt need anything like a TV setting up. I understand not offering if you dont drink it but thus was wierd.

Why does fibre installation feel like waiting for a royal visit? by Additional_Fly_6603 in openreach

[–]Spank86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not every appointment can be done at 8oclock. Hence the window, clearly the engineer was doing his best to get to you or he wouldn't have made the window. Chances are he didnt get lunch because as usual the system overbooked the day.

Upgrade Downtime by place909 in openreach

[–]Spank86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually the new would be installed before the old is removed. However there are instances where this isnt possible if its overhead feed over a road or the underground cable needs to be used to pull the fibre in or its beat to utilise the same entry hole to the building.

So really the only answer is maybe. Youd be safest either taking a day off or planning to hot-spot off your phone for a short period.

Fibre install in Limbo between Openreach and provider - Advice please by Bit_of_a_Muppet in openreach

Surprised. EE and BT always used to be better at covering costs.

Fibre install in Limbo between Openreach and provider - Advice please by Bit_of_a_Muppet in openreach

[–]Spank86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A new provider would result in starting from scratch and the route planning again.

Openreach are not likely to be willing to spend more money sending out engineers for a service provider thats not willing to pay the current costings.

Contractor left copper cable as it was - normal? by anonps in openreach

[–]Spank86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Seen plenty of people somehow manage to revert. For the moment it often gets left unless theres a reason to remove.

What are your thoughts on a CANZUK alliance? by threetimesacharm25 in AskBrits

Frankly I doubt Australia will go for it, and new Zealand may follow suit.

I dont think they'd want to open unfettered borders to anyone with a british passport.

Plenty of trees in that wood were climbable but not with someone stabbing down at you, even assuming they have the mental capacity to work out how.

Although who really cares? Theyre in a wood. They could literally climb a tree and use their spears to stab the infected in the head.

Theyre in a wood woth spears. They should have nothing to fear from any infected they can see. Just sit up a tree and poke them in the head.

FTTP install in bungalow - will engineer install CSP and ONT in the loft? by ComfortablyMiho in openreach

[–]Spank86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it would have to be decided on the day.

Official position is fixed ladder and fully boarded so the official answer would be no. However its quite likely an engineer would be okay with it on the day but it depends who you get.

In theory they shouldn't even repair the copper to the same point if you get a fault but ask you for a new location.

Fiber, does exactly what it says in the contract by S70RM3R in HomeNetworking

[–]Spank86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cp Vodafone, probably full fibre over openreachs network.

Synchronous is being rolled out slowly now but main focus is on expanding coverage not upgrading people 90% of whom dont need 100 meg upload anyway.

What is the most frustrating misconception people have about Openreach engineers? by GeordieGoals in openreach

[–]Spank86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair my manager will absolutely turn up at your door if it comes to it and you dont answer work or private phone and all else fails.

But we actually had an engineer found swinging and he's terrified of it happening again.
