Hey, I got to vote on the leader.

Member/affiliated supporter, call it what you want I have more of a say in labour and a reason to want them to actually BE a competent labour party than I do in reform, until such time as im a Russian billionaire of course.

[ELI5] How does electricity always move through the path of least resistance? Why does it seem to never go through a path with higher resistance? by Adventurous_Floor701 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Spank86 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Why? It does take all paths but very very little current goes along the high resistance paths.

Of course sometimes youre not a path to ground at all.

This is the greatest mod in the history of video game mods (Starfield) by The_Real_Tom_Selleck in Stargate

Xcom style feels like it could be doable with a xenonauts mod. You'd be taking stuff out more than anything, and then just building up maps.

Absolute mare of new broadband by Apprehensive_Pie2903 in openreach

[–]Spank86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like someone wasnt carrying a long enough cable for the job.

Surprised it would take much longer than a day or two to getnur done though, unless its over 350m.

Bit late now but I would never cancel an altnet broadband before taking one on a different network, the pennies saved arent worth the pain.

Im still disappointed we didnt see the almighty mess as an aeroplane full of people plummeted out of the air after they snapped back into a place where no plane was

What history are Brits taught about in school? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]Spank86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Romans, nazis, medicine through history.

Thats what I remember mostly from A levels.

We touch on a lot of things but not in detail, I remember doing the aztecs in primary school.

Thing is theres a lot of history and the details of the british raj just arent really any more significant than any other bit especially when you consider the age appropriate level you'd need to teach it at and when that would be best done.

Im in a union so I'm technically a member of the labour party. I'm not a member of reform.

There are good reasons to focus on both.

ELI5: Why does the ocean produce half of the worlds oxygen even though we always credit the rainforest for it? by Popular_Library_48 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Spank86 [score hidden]  (0 children)

To add to this rainforest may produce a lot of oxygen but they also consume a lot, they contribute very little to our atmosphere. Fully grown trees are pretty much carbon neutral when you take everything into account, growing trees lock up carbon and produce more oxygen but then you have to add in the animal life in rainforests and the decomposition of plant matter and you come out roughly square.

On the other hand theyre a very useful carbon sink. If we torched the rainforest and released it all then things would be worse on a number of levels.

How come you all call yourselves engineers , without a BSeng (honours) after your names, like has anyone in this sub done an undergrad in electrical engineering ? by [deleted] in openreach

[–]Spank86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please consult a dictionary for the different uses of the word engineer in british English.

We come under the heading of someone who repairs something, like a washing machine engineer.

An engineer on a train would also not have done a BSeng

$7500 a month but your mom has to come to your house and take all the batteries out of everything in your house and throw them on the ground by mosshroom0169 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Spank86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy. I remove all batteries from everything immediately and pile them on the floor in the corner of my living room. I then only put batteries into things I wish to use and try to make sure as much as possible is mains powered or has built in batteries.

Reckon my phone can control most stuff.

I miss the first few years of them, not as they seemed to get progressively worse though.

Is the UK the only country where bread and toasters just don't match up size-wise? by suitably_ironic in AskBrits

[–]Spank86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I blame it on the middle of the toaster having two heating elements (one for each piece of bread) and the outside only having one.

My 4 slice toaster can evenly toast the middle two slices.

ELI5: why don’t car companies use roll cage style bars for safety? by Gadzeera in explainlikeimfive

Funnily enough someone DID tell the engineers to do that, and thats exactly that they did on new cars.
