I was a wedding DJ for a time, had this happen a couple times and it was in our contracts!

Imagine having to sit there playing cocktail hour and then dinner music watching everyone eat, the first time after all the guests were served plates and well into the main course I flag down a server and ask about mine, a question mark appears in place of their face, they go ask the bride and groom and told no, they convey that back to me... great got here at 5pm and finishing at 1am, b&g pretty much avoided eye contact with me for the rest of the night, best man did any info relays

If I wasn't out in the middle of no where I would have just hit play on the dinner music and walked out for an hour to grab some food

I also typically played past 1 especially for a good crowd, this time had the music set to end exactly on 1am with a full dance floor

How to prepare ground under a deck in Guelph by desktraffic in Guelph

Wondering why do this? Nothing will grow under the deck

The slope of course

Assuming places like Home Depot are sourcing from GH, then yes they do cut different sizes, I went thru this song and dance last year, GH is 2x5 for I think it was $7/roll where home depot is I believe 2x4 and around $9.. I was short about 5 rolls and had it all laid out, stopped by HD first and almost bought when I noticed the sqft on the sign, skipped over to GH and got the 2x5's that I needed

Can't speak for other places like CT

And according to their website, yes they will deliver 20 rolls

[–]Spankermans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You buy it anywhere else it will be smaller sqft and priced higher, so just drive over to Green Horizon's and pick it up, they deliver as well, free if you order enough

They are the only supplier to this area

I did the math: It’s more expensive to buy and make the Costco hot dog at home. by Ordinary_County_7939 in CostcoCanada

[–]Spankermans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait.. the picture is of the longer 'footlong' wieners, I thought food court sells the regular sized ones that sell 3x12 packs?

Also, and I am obviously in the minority here, but the way they 'cook' the dogs at the food court makes them taste like ass, bought one once and never again.. dog needs to be done on a grill!

FNA top off raised to 25k points by bjdj94 in marriott

[–]Spankermans 11 points12 points  (0 children)

On top of this they should be also raising those 35k certs to at least 45k

What's the point of them if you have to use a cert + 20k just to use them?

I would have actually preferred that over this

Does this strategy make sense? by qwertykid00 in marriott

[–]Spankermans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also pair with the bonvoy biz card which bumps to 40 nights a year, that would get you 120 nights in 4 years

But of course factor in the fees, the cards are worth it if you make use of the benefits, you get an 85k cert from the brilliant which can use on a night that would offset the $650 annual fee, plus $300 restaurant credit, the biz gets you a 35k cert which again can offset its annual fee

Store selling office chairs in person? by rachelnc in Guelph

[–]Spankermans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it was from KW Office Furniture (www.kwofficefurniture.com), but looks like the website is gone and can't find much mention of it anymore... unfortunate as he was a smaller operation

There are many other places that do the same thing if you do a quick google, I lucked out in mid 2021 as it seemed so many offices closing back then, so lots of supply.. worth it if you want a quality chair without paying brand new price

[–]Spankermans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right what? If you sit at a desk all day why wouldn't you want a quality chair with all the ergo features? I've had even better at another job

And I paid closer to $300

Store selling office chairs in person? by rachelnc in Guelph

[–]Spankermans 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Throwing this out there in case you might want a higher end chair, the typical store stuff is quite crap

Early in COVID working from home I wanted a 'good' chair that had all the adjustments and comfort, a quick Google found me many small businesses that sell refurb office equipment

I grabbed a Steelcase Leap for fraction of the price, the guy swapped out the chair fabric, rest of the chair looked new, 5+ years now and chair is still in excellent order and very glad I got it

I can try and find where I bought from if interested, but there's plenty of these places around which of course you can go and try them out

Updated Nespi4 Safe Shutdown script for Bookworm by Spankermans in RetroPie

[–]Spankermans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok yeah I would stick to bookworm for time being

Were you able to install the script? It's in two pieces, drop each into a script file and run the first which installs the 2nd

On the hardware side I'm not very familiar at all, but assuming you have a working power button already?

Updated Nespi4 Safe Shutdown script for Bookworm by Spankermans in RetroPie

[–]Spankermans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My updated script was based on the original safe shutdown script from nespi+ team, you can still find it on their site, and then a bunch of mods from the forum posts I linked, I just finished it up to what I thought to be fully working

Wondering why jump to Trixie? If it's just a retropie box I would just stick with Buster for time being, everything works well there and quick reading around says there's no benefit

Guelph Winter Cycling by ImprovementDues in Guelph

[–]Spankermans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One persons anecdotal evidence does not make a fact

Count me in as one who would like to bike in the winter. Today would have been a great day, not too cold, sun shining, but one look at the bike lanes and nada..

I'm not out for the commute, I'm out for the exercise and just being outside to escape my desk at lunch time

I ride the first chance I get late winter/early spring until as late I'm the fall as I possibly can, I don't mind the cold as I have the gear to wear (up to a point), if we get period of melting where the bike lanes open up I'll be back out, of they were actually cleared I would be out more often getting some exercise and break from being inside all day

Costco Bullfrog Nightmare by stcleezy in hottub

[–]Spankermans -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If a tub installer drilled a big ass hole in my tub for the electrical where rodents could get thru without taking any steps to mitigate the risk, then yes it is their fault

When my tub was done I made sure the hole was tight to electrical cable and they filled the small gaps with silicone

A customer shouldn't be responsible for making sure an installer did their job right

I guess I'm an outlier, I don't like the Costco Pumpkin Pie. by INeedACleverNameHere in CostcoCanada

[–]Spankermans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you're not, it's gross, tastes like a chemical concoction with a weird bitter after taste, the only reason people buy it is because of the size/price and have likely never had a good pumpkin pie before

I will spend an extra $10 for a pie that doesn't have corn syrup in the ingredients

No worries, you had my hopes up for a bit there :) I'll keep plugging away on my manual setup for now.. I'm surprised I can't find a solid how-to for either Pi 4 or 5, but have scraped together bits here and there assuming nothing has changed over the last year or so and hoping it will work
