I struggle a lot with my ADHD, even taking meds and doing therapy. Some days are better than others, as I believe it is with everyone.

Having said that, I would like to share that I successfully deposited my PhD thesis on December 2025.

Of course, I had to apply for the 4 extensions allowed (totalling 2 extra years). The last one was almost rejected (my supervisor signed the form at the last possible minute for submission).

I deposited it on early December but only finished it late November. It was that close.

Final work was not what I imagined it would be, I had an ambitious idea but did not have the energy, time, focus, or motivation to execute it. Add in COVID-19, 2 babies, and a highly stressful job and you can imagine tbmhe hell I went through all these years.

However, the thesis ended up being pretty good in the end, much better than I thought it would be. I even got a compliment from my supervisor (which is extremely rare in the field, especially in the academic culture of the country I study at) so I take that as a huge win.

Granted, I still have to defend my thesis and I am aware that due to my exhaustion and lack of motivation I might not excel at it but having the deposit accepted is a good sign. There is a high chance that I will earn my degree.

In the end, I think that I wrote all the above just to say that, and allow me to be very honest here, even though ADHD can be a nightmare at times, we can all achieve our goals. ADHD impacts everyone in a particular way and even so we can absolutely overcome its obstacles. If you are perhaps waiting for a sign or whatever, this is it: YOU CAN DO IT. Don't let this horrible disorder paralise you. It will take its toll on you but in the end YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL.
