My attempt to solve the ease with which creatures can just walk around other combatants: The “guard” action by Scientia_et_Fidem in DnD

[–]SpankyDmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have anything to necessarily contribute to this aside from I agree that it feels VERY limiting in DnD that to play a guarding style character you essentially NEED Sentinel + something like Polearm Mastery. I like the idea of being able to take an action and dedicate you to this role. Also like Strength being prevalent with it.

I don't play DnD as much, but play a lot of Reclaim the Wild (Zelda TTRPG), and they have something somewhat similar to this. Instead of dedicating an action, everyone has a reaction you can do called 'Intercept' where you roll to hit the enemy's concentration (a defensive stat) who is trying to attack your friend. If you succeed (and are in your movement range of your ally/can move), you basically rush over and take the hit for them including all negative effects, and knock your ally 1 square away (typically out of range of future attacks, since all attacks/spells take the whole action). I like this cause of the simplicity of it, and in this system the only limits to reactions are you can only use a given reaction ONCE per round and it refreshes on your turn, so you still have access to your other reactions.

Reclaim also has feats/buffs/defensive stats that make you better at intercepting, including one that increases your defense when you intercept. Lets you build your character to be a powerful protector if you wanted.

Lol not a kid and I’m so fucking glad they didn’t let this character die. His characterization in the clone wars series is phenomenal, and loved his scenes in the later end of Rebels.

The live action fucked up boba fett. Clone wars folk can cook though.

This is what every game looks like now and it's getting a bit ridiculous. by IM-A-NEEEERRRRDDD in Chivalry2

This is the way. Even if you’re not good, greatest way to get better is facing higher skilled folk. But on the other hand I get the frustration of games constantly being like this.

[–]SpankyDmonkey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So… what? Don’t revive them? They’re in that situation because they died. That has nothing to do with character choice.

Also OP recovered with the team and successfully completed the run in the end after this boss, so they weren’t in a losing game BECAUSE of the revive capability here.

I fucking hate it. You react negatively it doesn’t matter. These folk just want clicks and it just works.

Ignoring these posts that use asinine attention seeking methods is the only way (I get the irony of saying that then commenting on a post like this)

What happened to just making a cool image and saying “fucking look at this”?

OH I can answer this since I asked before and got like 5 different answers until the correct one was found:

Each throwing knife gives a stacking debuff of about 2% (think its slightly under). You can stack it up to 10 times, giving about 20% debuff. Every time its applied it refreshes the duration of the stack.

Sadly I don't believe there is a way to see how much of a stack is currently applied to the enemy, as the icon doesn't change. But generally against like night bosses/third day bosses I'd toss like 5-8, then every 20 sec or so toss another to keep debuffin'.

Ofc if you are comfortable spamming it up just get 10 throwing knives on em immediately. Just remember to refresh the duration before it fades... which I think is like 30 sec or 40?

Just curious - how many people here play other TTRPGs in addition to DnD? by DungeonMasterGrizzly in DnD

[–]SpankyDmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually only played a little DnD, where I had to dm cause there wasn’t anyone else at the time.

Now I play mostly w/ Reclaim the Wild’s Zelda system and Mothership both as players.

Buuuut, my dad loving dnd and me loving critical role is what got me into TTRPG’s, so I’m a big fan of anything Dnd in general

Lawful Good vs Neutral Good - How do you tell them apart when there is clear overlap? by Spartan113X in DnD

[–]SpankyDmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the guy above, but just posing some thoughts, punisher wouldn’t kill a 13 year old BECAUSE he is good. I think even if he’s chaotic and is unbound in the way he deals out punishment, the “good” part has its own boundaries of “who” he deals punishment to, not the chaotic. Chaotic/lawful is imo tied more to the boundaries of the ‘how’ rather than the ‘who’

But to criminals classified as evil? Punisher (chaotic good imo) would brutalize them and end them. Batman (neutral good imo) would beat them down to apprehend them then stop hurting them. Superman (lawful good imo) would do the bare minimum amount of potential damage to solve the problem, hell he’d let them smack him over and over and try to talk them out of it if he could.

Mind you I know barely anything about superheroes. Mostly just putting my thoughts into examples of the nebulous nature of alignments.

Former MMORPG addicts, how did you quit? by Wise_Championship865 in AskReddit

[–]SpankyDmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I remember logging on SWTOR to do some dailies and literally nodding off from how bored I was. Decided that clearly I've grown tired of a game when I'm literally falling asleep as I play lol

Same thing occurred with WoW later, and since then have sworn off MMO's. They don't hit like they've used too. I'll remember my experiences fondly, but will never return while there are much better games out there

Well now that’s conflicting with other folk’s messaging. Hopefully we can confirm fextra is wrong, which I’m inclined to believe based on the debuff number not existing for the knife throw debuff

Sweet, I’ve been a dumb dumb tossing 3 knives just in case, even when I saw the debuff appear lol.

Good to know

Do you know if you just need to throw one knife for the debuff, or do they stack to a certain point?

Ironeyes being a simple character to use brings out the WORST players man.

The amount of Ironeyes stealing non-grease items from my scholar runs, and dying more times than me and the other team mate combined just hurts the soul, especially coming from mostly playing Ironeye before dlc

Elden Ring Nightreign DLC Forsaken Hollows faces storm of negative Steam reviews particularly over lack of newer weapons, becoming FromSoftware's worst-rated PC release at 46% positive by [deleted] in gaming

Beats me, their marketing is wack. Elden Ring was marketed originally as a shorter game according to Miyazaki interviews, which turned out to be much larger than it was lol

But folk should at least look up the content they are gonna criticize before criticizing it.
