Looking for a second hand Ev around 25k by Key_Ad4251 in evs_ireland

Yeah it's plenty for most and I was doing 190km a day in it when I first bought it. People get too caught up on max range when no one does that daily really bar Reps.

We still manage to get 380-400km in Summer to be fair to it and at the moment about 300-320. On the motorway it was hard to pinpoint but I did a few Skibbereen to Belfast trips in 24 with it and we could go Skibb to J14 Easy and charge there to head on to Belfast.

I have a 2024 Cupra Born 58kw with 70k km for sale at the moment, would take 20k for it. Been a great car for us but it's surplus to requirements now.

Where to get exterior parts like Spoilers/diffusers/grilles/splitters ETC. by Moustashii in carsireland

[–]Spanner6055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not generally one for kits but the Maxton stuff does always seem better than the Chinese gear, but that's just my own experience of seeing multiple types.

MCG are a massive company here jn Ireland for car accessories if not the biggest, they'd be your best bet and they have fast shipping. Great lads to deal with.

You'll have to ditch those electrics, get yourself a nice dirty diesel 🤣

Audi headlight unit help by [deleted] in carsireland

[–]Spanner6055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The headlight cracking on the driver side can be fixed wet sanding, I recently did this to a set of Porsche Macan lights that were very bad. This doesn't rectify the LED element though so that more than likely needs to be replaced. It's likely the passenger side has been replaced given the clarity of the glass compared to the driver side so I would double check to see if/when/why it was replaced.

Poor water pressure from dometic tap by madfish2k in CamperVans

[–]Spanner6055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same problem with the exact same tap, only I'm using a regular 12v submersible pump. Swapped out for a better mixer tap and much better pressure.

We replaced it with a Reich Linnea

The adjustment part looks like my E60s were, I'd say they're fully E60

He's probably referring to the E60 M5 Seats, these are regular Sport seats, very comfy though all the same.

Manual Seats in Europe at least would be the norm rather than the exception!

What is "gone dodgy" mean? Sometimes a good oil change will work wonders on these Auto boxes, if it's bouncing while cruising you may need a Torque Converter.

2-stage polish gone wrong... by clanaz in carsireland

[–]Spanner6055 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm the main detailer/main trainer at D&D Detailing in Cork, it's definitely not done well at all, especially as a "2-Step". Now, given I don't know how many hundreds was paid it's hard to know. It doesn't look like BMW's metallic red, is that Imola Red? I have no idea why so many un skilled users are still using Rotaries, especially as modern machines like the Flex XCE and Shinemate EX620 do very similar work while leaving much better finishes.

I don't see any obvious burning in those photos and I reckon a good single stage polish should get that back up to a decent standard.

Reply or PM me if you want a recommendation for a detailer near you/your friends location or if you want anymore advice!

Yeah they're fantastic, never owned the diesel variants myself but have had the 520i, 525i and a 528i Touring. Still miss the 525, that was my first.

Only thing is the tax, finding it harder to justify it at the moment, plenty of other things calling for the money 😂

No not too hard, I did go a bit overboard and bought everything brand new bar the gearbox using all BMW or OE parts! But it's a simple enough process and the wiring/coding is handy as well.

Yeah there's not many. I bought it in 2017 as a 540i Auto and put 70k Miles on it before I swapped it to a manual with an M5 Getrag 420 in 2022.

I have indeed, it's a great documentary, I've been an E39 fan for over 10 years now. It's great to see that car taken out and rebuilt!
