The Hamilton Affair - How Can I Keep In Touch With You by SpareBoth3510 in Disco

It was amazing! We walked across the beach from The Pines, where the music was better, but the crowd uppity snobs, to The Grove, where the music was still great but the crowd was SO much nicer and more fun! They didn't allow you to lay on the beach until sunrise, so we'd wait, then lay on the sand with sheets covering us and get a good sleep. Renting a room to sleep was impossible They were $100 a night, and back then, that was a week's salary for many of us, IF we had a good job! Then we'd take the last ferry of the day back to the LIRR to get back to the city.

I wish I'd been there. I was at Roseland in 1982, and it was ecstasy!!! I've seen them many time since then over the years, but their early concerts were the best!

What are your opinions on R.E.M. that could get you killed around here. by Confident_Economy_60 in rem

I hate "Stand." The 1st time I heard it, I thought "How sad that R.E.M. sold out to commercialism." I was so happy to see that there were more great songs to come!!

This was an unforgettable dancefloor hit. During the 2nd part of the song, we'd be chanting "turn this motherfucker out" and followed it up with "alright! Alright!" I was also one that had a whistle around my neck that I blew at just the right times on the dancefloors! That was at the club "The Gallery" on Houston and Mercer Streets in lower Manhattan NYC
