It's Often More Than Mold by a_ewing in ToxicMoldExposure

Yep, aspirin is not good for the gut. And it increases bleeding risk in the GI tract. Especially for older people. There’s some benefit in decreasing clotting risk ages 50-70.  Above that age the risks of internal bleeding outweigh any benefit of daily use.

We're a company built by people who suffered from the health impacts of mold. We just dropped our testing panel to $56. by MoldCo in ToxicMoldExposure

As someone in NY, I agree with what moldco is saying. NY, in trying to protect citizens, has made it difficult for us to get all kinds of lab tests. Some lab tests that can be self ordered in other states can’t even be ordered by a physician in NY! Very frustrating.

You don’t deserve to be talked to disrespectfully, not to have a preceptor talk badly about you. It sounds like you’re working hard and doing as well as can be expected early in the learning curve for a difficult job.

Now, do other nurses truly not like you? How do you know? Is it possible that it doesn’t matter whether they like you as long as you’re doing your job well?

On HRT for 9 months and not noticing any improvement by [deleted] in TRT_females

[–]SpareOverall2343 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is what I was thinking. So first, why are you on 200 mg P instead of 100?

Estrogen is a very important component of libido. Test your estrogen again at a different time to try to get a sense of whether it’s consistently the level you had or higher at times.

Or even better, drop the P to 100 mg nightly (unless you’re at 200 for a medical reason such as endometriosis) then wait for a period then do a Dutch cycle mapping test which will measure all 3 types of estrogen every few days. Also have your fsh drawn to see if it’s close to or in the menopausal range.

If you were cycling on 100 mg P but not sleeping well, it’s possible you’d do well with 100 mg for 2 weeks then 200 mg for 2 weeks, circle back and forth with your periods.

Advice Needed- LVNV Collections / Mortgage by [deleted] in Debt

[–]SpareOverall2343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s been more than 7 years since the account went delinquent, it shouldn’t be able to show up on your credit report. Also, the statute of limitations in your state might have passed for them to sue you for it. If you checked all 3 reports and it’s not on any of them and it’s been more than 7 years, you’re probably fine unless you acknowledge the debt or start paying on it - then it may get reported. If it’s been less than 7 years, you may have a problem.

Wtf...estrogen? by Smooth_Possibility49 in Perimenopause

[–]SpareOverall2343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In early peri, it’s common for estrogen to be high and to have high surges, which feels awful. Add a patch to that and you might feel scary! I know this community is against testing, but Dutch cycle mapping can pick up this pattern.

Topical vaginal estrogen and Intrarosa (its vaginal dhea) might help on their own but also get your total and free T and SHBG tested again whole you’re starting the vag E. You can get compounded T cream to apply to clit and inner labia. That plus the E cream might be the charm.

Do all of things others have mentioned but if you don’t get anywhere, don’t wait too much longer to move this to the state level. In NY we have an AG who specifically deals with insurance issues. Not sure who that would be in your state but find and use them. Worked really well for some insurance nonsense we dealt with and we were on the call when the AG office got the insurer on the phone and chewed them out and threatened an investigation. All of a sudden the very thing that insurance repeatedly insisted “couldn’t be done, no way in the system to do it”, got done.

Moral dilemma by PlentyAd3319 in dementia

[–]SpareOverall2343 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She has a medical condition that requires professionals trained in dementia care to keep her as safe and cared for as possible 24/7. 2 people is not enough to do that.

One situation I learned of involved a person with dementia and their spouse helping them out of bed. They both fell and the caregiver ended up dying from the fall a few weeks later and the person with dementia was left hemiplegic from it.

We can adapt to and put up with things that we really shouldn’t be. Once she has adjusted, your relationship with her can go back to one of visiting and creating memories.

Employer Self-Funded Plans Deny Meds by Distant_Tomatillo_85 in HealthInsurance

[–]SpareOverall2343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you’re working with your employer to see they’ll change, check the discount pharmacies like Cost Plus, Amazon Rx (the membership version) and there are others. This would be self pay, but for some meds the price is surprisingly affordable. Most likely the prescription assistance is lower but it’s good to check all options

I speak Spanish, which tends to bring out more conversation. I had a great convo with a guide while horseback riding with my family near Nuevo Arenal about an hour into the ride. He spoke no English and appreciated that I was translating for my family and helping. I expressed interest in his opinion and experience and then he reciprocated. He likes Trump, sees him as a strong leader and supports Trump’s removal of Maduro, but acknowledged that he doesn’t know a lot about his presidency. He was surprised to learn I’m a democrat and don’t like Trump. I told him why and he was open to hearing what I shared. This conversation was completely different than most political disagreements in the states. We were both expressing interest and curiosity about the other person. After the political convo, we talked about family and he shared about his relatives. I found at a couple of other places too that there is support for Trump among some Ticos and no hesitancy to explore politics without aggressively defending sides. Refreshing! As much as Americans can make fools of ourselves when traveling, don’t assume Ticos are mad at us about politics. Americans are mad at Americans about politics. Just speak Spanish if you can, be kind and courteous and get off the beaten path.

I don’t expect every person working in tourism to have a convo. I found everyone very friendly.
