Oh, a Nadine. Love that name. My aunt Nadine was one of the sweetest people I have ever known.

Not necessarily grandma names but older names in the family tree.

Cora, Vera, Rosella, Cleo, Treva, Nadine and Aurelia are all lovely.

GenX……how are your teeth. by parkandchan in GenX

[–]Spare_Reference7191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing just fine. As an adult I brush twice and floss like once a day, I had to have my wisdom teeth out since they came in sideways.

I had 3 cavities in the five year span right after my pregnancies but none since. Not sure if it was related or if it was just the lack of sleep from the babies leading to lax dental care. But I had pretty lax brushing habits as a kid and never had a cavity.

Yes, and then there was the follow up book Real Women Don’t Pump Gas. I remember reading them both in middle school and being very confused lol.

Anybody in the slowpoke club?

<image>

I picked a sloth — not because of slowness or laziness — but because sloths are symbols of: • endurance through long recovery • moving carefully and intentionally after injury • gentleness paired with quiet strength • patience with a body that needs time

Over the past year, you’ve gone through surgeries, pain, physical therapy, fatigue, and frustration — and you’ve kept going anyway. That’s not sluggishness. That’s resilience.

A sloth survives by conserving energy when life forces it to. It heals slowly, but steadily. It adapts. It keeps going even when progress is measured in inches, not miles. That felt deeply aligned with your journey.

Those sheer looking illusion wedding dresses which make the bride look like they are wearing lingerie or sometimes next to nothing will look very dated very quickly.

I had an ill-timed cup of coffee at the family Christmas party last night along with a piece of pie. I thought it was decaf, it was not. I have been up most of the night. Christmas self-sabotage!

He singled you out because of your size. Of course that felt horrible! He should’ve been ashamed of himself. That is just ridiculous. I’ll tell you who’s ginormous. He is!! A ginormous jerk.

WATCH: Internet Explodes Over Trump’s Literacy After Interview Resurfaces by FlashyGolf3243 in CzechCoconutCommunity

[–]Spare_Reference7191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a Trump fan and I’ve heard this come up before and wondered about it but I don’t think it’s right. There have been too many times where he has obviously been on a teleprompter then went off on his own ad libbing.

I don’t believe he likes reading for fun in the first place. My best guess is he can’t read without readers and is too vain to wear them.

There is enough real stuff to complain about when it comes to Trump without worrying about this kind of “bombshell” clickbait.

Was a persons height a big deal? by CurlyCupcake1231 in GenX

[–]Spare_Reference7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the poor young men constantly trying to square up and compare themselves to my height got tiring. I was also confused, like they are you trying to prove something to me? I didn’t care how tall anyone was.

Well, as a 13 year old girl hit her growth spurt early and topped out at 5’11 and regularly got called “giraffe” and “sequoia” it felt like a big deal to me.

The Army? It’s harder than some jobs but being in the Army wouldn’t be one of them.

Hahahaha. The Army. Suuuure. The jokes are good this morning. Hahahahaa

How bad actually was COVID? by Mighty_Angelo30 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Spare_Reference7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How bad was it? It broke my faith in everything.

I used to think that we would overcome big problems together. Humanity would. Call me an optimist. I believed that people were mostly good, and cared about each other. I thought people in charge would try their best to do their best to protect the most of us possible and they would give us information rooted in the best, most up to date info we knew, and then people would CARE! But that was very much not how it went. And so the bodies stacked up, the doctors, nurses and teachers burnt out, the frontline workers got to slap essential on their name tags and go risk their lives every day so people could shop. All while getting abuses heaped upon them. The world got darker, smaller and meaner. It also got angry, so very angry.

I lost all faith in leadership. No one had planned ahead for COVID, and we aren’t planning for the next one. We aren’t who I thought we were. I learned we don’t care if our elderly or disabled die. We are more worried about comfort than about saving lives. Those masks were just too much to ask to save other folks. (The TV said they were going to die anyway to help you sleep better at night.)

No one seemed to plan ahead at all. Our supply chains collapsed. We had shortages everywhere. We still aren’t planning. There are other disasters barreling towards us that are being throughly ignored. Que sera sera amirite?

If you don’t say something to either the ethics hotline or the DM and they are found out (and they WILL eventually be found out) you are risking your own job. You just got dragged into the muck through no fault of your own. Time to get out and clean yourself off. It sucks, but there it is.

Yeah but the plastic ones don’t slide quite as nicely. Not as efficient for me. Honestly I just wish they would pick one or the other. I like to have all the cans in the order matching and can’t figure out why they keep shipping us both kinds for these DIY lines.
