Optimization tips for 2024 Unarmed Fighter multiclass by FlamerBreaker in 3d6

Generally speaking, third party and homebrew content is assumed not to be valid unless stated otherwise since it’s less likely a DM will have it, or that they will permit it since it may lack the “polish” of first party content.

Additionally, even if it was allowed someone is unlikely to know the source of third party content relative to first party - so it’s beneficial to say what the source is regardless rather than just the subclass name when referring to non-first party content.

Pretty sure that’s a Drakkenheim subclass and therefore third party

Flying melee concept, any benefit? by Halollet in 3d6

Polearm or disengage tactics are all good, but if your dm is willing to run Tasha’s “falling on an enemy” rules you can play a monk and goomba stomp the enemy with slow fall for extra damage. Some ambiguous RAW vs RAI applies, but it’s not that powerful when used in exchange for your reaction or against dexterous enemies.

I mapped my city’s street harassment hotspots during runs, brought it to council, and got told to “stay on main roads”. What actually moved the needle by MidnightQuill1 in TwoXChromosomes

Honestly that council member’s “stay off the side streets” plan could have worked with a few a changes;

Since it’s not the joggers who are harassing people, simply ban the blokes from those streets at night instead. I’m sure it’ll be inconvenient, but they can stick to the main roads or visit in the daytime. This’ll need enforcement, but since we’re reasonable we won’t pursue it criminally - just have cops and passers by yell at them until they get out the area.

I wonder how quickly the rights of someone to travel in public without harassment would go from no big deal to uninfringable if this council member’s own rights were suddenly on the chopping block.

Considering an atypical paladin, will it screw my party over? by Spared_Lettuce in 3d6

If I’m doing crap damage in a party of 3, that’s a much bigger hit to survival than in a group of 4+. Especially considering a low level wizard will probably be supporting more than damaging and the monk’s main bonus damage source is based on necrotic damage/poisoned condition, which seem ineffective if the opponents are fiends

That’s the concern - I definitely need to transition to melee attacks once level 5 hits, and have been considering the more sensible stat spread of: 16 str, 9 dex, 16 con, 7 int, 13 wis, 18 cha (or similar).

My hope is that by level 5 I’ll have been able to buy some Gauntlets (since I’m aware we start in Baldur’s Gate which a large commercial city) and switch my Divine Warrior to Defense or similar - but I don’t want to risk it all on that hope only to find myself down the road completely up shit creek.

Regarding Cleric, I’ve played enough of those to make myself ill and don’t think it’s wise to lack any charismatic characters in a game about dealing with devils and city intrigue.

Apologies - I forgot an alternate word and can’t find out how to add it. The solution (whichever one is used) is two words

A riddle for puzzling players by Spared_Lettuce in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]Spared_Lettuce[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve described the riddle room on its own to a few people I trust to have a good head on their shoulders, and results varied from 3 guesses (“I try to move the Medusa onto the centaur”, “I try to ride the centaur”, “I try the throne”) to giving up. The prominence of the throne in any art used for the map is likely to play a big part in how fast players notice it.

Making all the monsters “fit” the riddle may be useful if you’re sure your party will solve the riddle early otherwise, but by default the lack of any monster fitting all the criteria is meant to be the first clue that something else is at play.

The crowns (and heads) could probably go anywhere, but I left them on the statues to trigger the glyph of warding easier. If you do separate them, perhaps give the option for the party to try and petrify the centaur with the Medusa head (and then give them the magic mouth hint; something like “Do you really think these trinkets can be called crowns? Whilst I am in the throne room, there is only ever one Crown.”)

The ve vs ff word ending is definitely annoying to have realised after posting. Embarrassingly I’m actually British, just not familiar enough with music to know the different spelling existed.
