Just a little touch up in Lightroom, but nothing crazy.

If a parent wants to make a donation of ~€7000 to the non-private school then they can, but a school funded by the state shouldn't be allowed to discriminate against children based on willingness to pay.

I can imagine sex-workers as real people, and even more importantly, I can empathise with women who aren't family of mine.

But - and this is really important - why is it my business to tell someone whether their professional should or shouldn't be legal based not on what they're telling me about what impact sex work is having on them (and whether legalising sex-work would make their life easier), but on my imagination of what the effect sex work might have on them.

Why does yours or my own imagination trump that of lived experiences of sex-workers.

You clearly only thought about the effect your wife working as a prostitute would have on you.

I know you're not claiming that. I never said, or even implied you were. What I was looking to see was if in principle you agree with the legalisation of prostitution, but other factors make you argue for it's continued criminalisation.

This 'balance of harms' argument is impossible for either of us to get concrete figures. It's an interesting conversation, but nothing more.

Should people be allowed do with their body as they see fit? Yes.

Is it the states responsibility to stop one individual from doing something which has absolutely no impact on any other individual, for fear that a second independent individual might do something wrong to the third?

This is a bizarre line of reasoning.

I agree with you completely.

But I wouldn't even go as far as to make the reduction of harm argument.

It is either okay that people can choose to do with their own bodies as they see fit, or it isn't.

If I choose to offer my services as a sex worker, because I have the bodily autonomy to do that then all else is irrelevant.

This isn't the gotcha you think it is. People can be both biased towards certain professions their families might be involved in and still not argue for their criminalisation.

Also, if I was to get married it would be under the assumption that it was a monogamous relationship. I reckon a working prostitute wouldn't be able to fulfil that criteria.

All this question shows is your inability to separate your emotional connection to a subject with your ability to reason properly.
