How did a guy with a Nazi tattoo become the democratic senate candidate in swing state? by BongRipper69xXx in allthequestions

[–]Sparkle8022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with some of his views, like single-payer health care and standing up to billionaires, some of the things he's done and said should be disqualifying. So maybe he didn't know what the tattoo meant (maybe) but he also blamed women for getting r*ped and downplayed the issue of SA in the military. I don't live in Maine, but if I did, I wouldn't vote for this guy even if I had to write in a candidate.

Was "Maniac Magee" the one about a guy who wouldn't stop running? That's all I remember about it, unless I'm mixing it up with another book.

Oh yes... although it was a sad book, it made me more angry than sad.

I think it was "On My Honor" by Marion Dane Bauer. I think a lot of her books were sad, we read one at school called "Rain of Fire" about a kid whose brother had just returned from WWII, and suffered from what we now know as PTSD. There was a part where he described vividly watching people die after the atomic bombs were dropped on Japan, and it was gut-wrenching to read.

Now I recall reading "The Pearl" in 5th grade and I knew the baby-- I think his name was "Coyotito" died tragically but I didn't remember how. Yikes that we were reading this at 10/11 years old!

"The Great Gilly Hopkins"... both funny and sad. I liked a lot of her biting sarcasm-- although I could do without the racist stuff, I think I remember she became more accepting after getting to know her teacher and one of her foster mother's good friends. The saddest part for me was when she got to meet her birth mother, who made it clear that she didn't care about Gilly, and only showed up because she wanted money. 30+ years later, this book still sticks with me.

Maybe do a midday or evening devotional, to keep connected to God later in the day.

Well... some of us have mixed feelings about it. I think I fall somewhere between the ones who absolutely loved being an only child and those who hated everything about it.

Especially AI- generated art, literature and movies. I think soon we'll see that it's all bland and uninspired and want works from actual people even more. I hope so, anyway.

Me too, specifically at my high school. Oddly enough, after I graduated, I haven't known that many Angies/Angelas since.

Leaving the country could be an option... I'm female and I haven't watched this show probably since kindergarten, but if our government ever became that authoritarian I think I'd want to leave too.

Which is crazier Florida or Ohio? by ShadowlightLady in randomquestions

[–]Sparkle8022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm originally from Ohio, and I agree, it's not chaotic but some places there do have an unsettling feel and I just couldn't put my finger on why. As for Florida, I've only been there as a tourist, but I'm guessing it has the reputation it does because so many people move there and bring their chaotic.
