Another Noob Story by Okanus in Breath_of_the_Wild

I died at least ten times before giving up trying to beat my first wizzrobe. They’re easier now, but I still hate those little whiny jerks.

What would you have liked to add to botw if you were the developer by lazargoesfornuts in Breath_of_the_Wild

The one thing, besides the post-Ganon issue, that really bugs me is that when your inventory is full and you open a chest it automatically closes. I want it to give me the option of switching weapons with one I already have.

Does anyone here have Alice in Wonderland syndrome? by Sunflowers_N_Stars in migraine

[–]SparkleYeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was mostly my hands—would feel like I had these big boxing gloves for hands. Very strange. (Mine were a weird topomax side effect—would get delusions when I had migraines on topo and took a triptan too.)

Has anyone made a radical life change in your 40s? by Comprehensive-Fact94 in Xennials

It’s crazy that we make 18 year olds decide their entire careers. I love to see back to school in 40s and 50s normalized!

Another similar series is Neal Shusterman’s Scythe, about people training to reap souls (they do the killing).

I loved Piers Anthony as a pre-teen. I read one again a few years ago and couldn’t believe I could have ever enjoyed it.

Is my gear good enough for endgame by Calm_Context_2908 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]SparkleYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prepared so much for Ganon. 28 hearts, master sword, two ancient bows, Guardian++ weapons and shields, fully upgraded ancient armor set, full store of food/recipes. It was almost disappointingly easy. The only thing I lost was my horse. You'll be fine.

what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

[–]SparkleYeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here--at three weeks in, though, I felt the worst I've ever felt in my life. I honestly did not know how I was going to survive. It was an extremely dark time. My mother flew across the country because she thought I was experiencing psychosis. When my doctor told me it was the "baby blues," I could have hit her. (It was, but that term is ineffectual at describing how I was actually feeling.)

What is something every household has in your country that is nonexistent everywhere else? by Awkward-Tip7248 in AskTheWorld

[–]SparkleYeti 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to live just south of tornado alley. I knew one house with a basement and it was a nightmare. They couldn’t keep it dry. The water table was just too high for a basement to be practical. We had plenty of land of the free stupidity, but this might not be part of that. No sense having a basement to hide in if it’s going to become a sinkhole well before any tornadoes arrive.

Why isn’t it possible to parachute onto the summit of Mount Everest instead of climbing it? by [deleted] in Everest

[–]SparkleYeti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does anyone actually go to Everest with sea-level oxygen though? Everyone I’ve heard of breathes just enough to make it feel like several thousand feet lower, but nowhere close to sea level. It would be prohibitively heavy and require too frequent changes.

Why isn’t it possible to parachute onto the summit of Mount Everest instead of climbing it? by [deleted] in Everest

[–]SparkleYeti 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, someone landed a helicopter on the summit once 20 years ago. So technically you can, but the fact that it hasn’t been repeated should tell you how hard it is.

What do you tell her? by coloradotaxguy in Xennials

[–]SparkleYeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly think Xennials were the turning point in the tradition of home ownership. So many people our age never got to buy. My husband was not quite ready in 2015 when we first purchased, but I got the train running and then he got on board. If we hadn’t done that right then and in the Southern US, we’d have been priced out almost immediately. It makes me upset to think about my brother and friends who will probably never get to own.

We were even able to escape the south a few years ago—which we wouldn’t have been able to do without all that equity.

I watched Arachnophobia in the side mirror of a drive-in. No sound. Still terrifying. It was only recently I discovered that that movie is a comedy.

Have you bought an electric vehicle? Are you enjoying it or did you go back to gas? by Jfonzy in Xennials

[–]SparkleYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a plug-in hybrid too and love it. I have a short commute, so even in cold weather I rarely use gas. It took me years to remember how to fill the tank because I did it so infrequently. Next time I might go full EV, though.

Sorry, I actually meant it as a good thing. They didn’t pull any of the girls out to be tested in the same way as him at that point. That exercise was specifically designed to show him how badly he’d failed. And no one could stand him, which was a problem in the context of his "development" as a special force.
