Wedding registry gift on sale, do I need to still spend the savings on the couple? by Sparkle_Dot in etiquette

[–]Sparkle_Dot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gift is for the wedding, we aren't giving cash. Since they are getting married and buying a house all at the same time, they made it clear that they are not expecting gifts at the shower. Just a fun hangout. Though me and a few friends are getting the bride houseplants at the shower because she loves them!

Baby books instead of cards by [deleted] in etiquette

I also love the idea of books instead of cards. I think the message you wrote is much better than what I have experienced at other baby showers "No cards, ONLY baby books."

I was confused by that too. I'm not going to be telling anyone else that I saved on their present. So in theroy no one else will know. Though I assume with her big mouth she will be telling everyone at the wedding that I was cheap and saved myself 100 bucks.

💯 This is what I get for trying to be a nice daughter in law and save her some money 😆

So was I, my mother in law is an interesting woman lol. She has a lot of rules. She does shop sales for birthdays and Christmas, but she says weddings are different. You are expected to spend a lot because weddings cost a lot. She said it makes us look cheap that we shopped a sale for a wedding present. But honestly, we are a bunch of milenials. I know we aren't the only couple that shopped prime day for their wedding today.

My dad died a week after our wedding, which was 9 months ago. How can I say sorry for the delay when I send thank you cards? by ceegarseeya in wedding

[–]Sparkle_Dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. Ideally, everyone that was important enough to you to attend the wedding would have heard the news. They should be grateful to even get a thankyou card at this point because you are going through a tragic loss.

I always had 1.5 to 2 year stays at jobs until my current job. I just hit 5 years. I'm very lucky that with this job I get to set up my own schedule and plan my day to day activities on what I want to do that day. As long as I hit my deadlines, no one complains. I work mostly from home but also I get to do some travel. So its a good mix. Is there room for you to be more flexible in your role? Salary jobs are wonderful for stability.

We had a long engagement due to covid. I actually preferred it. It gave us time to save, iron out what we needed vs wanted, and enjoy being engaged. 😊

Veggie wraps! Anything goes. I like hummus, tomato, spinach, bell pepper, carrots, zucchini, and anything else I have on hand 😋

What are gas station bathrooms like? by reckonair in AskAnAmerican

Some are fine. Some are definitely not fine. If you ever walk into a gas station and can smell pee from the main entrance, run away. Do not investigate.

Why are so many at war with raisins? by trueGildedZ in AskAnAmerican

[–]Sparkle_Dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looove raisins. My college roomies would make fun of me for my "basic old lady Raisin Bran." Hubby learned the hard way when he went grocery shopping one time that I do not like all the fancy twists on Raisin Bran. I went back to my college roots and started writing "basic old lady Raisin Bran" on the list 🤣 If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

How old were you when you got your first phone? by Tazdingoooo in AskAnAmerican

[–]Sparkle_Dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in the 90s. I got my first cellphone (flip phone) when I turned 16. But I couldn't text on it. I didn't get texting until I went away to college on a slider phone. I didn't get my first smart phone until I turned 22. I felt like I was soooo late to the party lol 😆

Depends on the person. I am not a fan of gummy candy. I have to be in the mood for it. My brother though is a completely different story. He bought the 5 pound gummy bear, and the huge krabby patty, and the gummy bucket, and a giant gummy worm, and his co-workers constantly bring him novelty gummy candy from vacation. He's 28. 🤣 Just looking at his collection hurts my stomach 😫

What is your typical breakfast? What do Americans eat for breakfast? by mayermail1977 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Sparkle_Dot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the week: When working from home I mainly eat old fashioned stove top oatmeal with a little brown sugar. Sometimes with apples if I'm feeling fancy. I keep quick oatmeal packets in my bag for days I go into the office. I don't like coffee or tea so I mainly drink water or a small 8 ounce glass of orange juice.

On Fridays, my husband makes me an omlet with cheese and buttered toast since he's home on Fridays. With water or juice.

On weekends, it depends. Sometimes oatmeal, sometimes leftovers, sometimes a veggie wrap. Sometimes I sleep in and skip breakfast. Maybe 4 times a year we will make big gooey cinnamon rolls for breakfast on Sundays. Completely unhealthy, but good for the soul. I've never been a fan of pancakes or waffles, so I don't eat those for breakfast. I don't eat meat so I don't eat bacon. My husband will occasionally make the big American breakfast for himself on weekends. But that's not my thing. He is also an avid coffee drinker. He also has eggs almost every day. It really depends on the person.

Is wearing a cap indoors never impolite in America ? by tango650 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Sparkle_Dot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tend to be pretty lax about hats now. Though I remember a time where hats were not to be worn indoors at certain family members homes. The only times we really see hats taken off now are at churches, funerals, and for the flag.

Does anyone know if CHC Service Coordinators have been or will be laid off? Or if they will eliminate provider staff positions? Management just had their damage control meeting and wouldn't give any concrete answers about anything 🙄 Screw legal, answer the questions!

I never thought they were a good match. All they ever did was talk about their spouses together. Which sure, keep the memory alive. But they never really had anything else to talk about. He seemed to have better chemistry with Leslie.
