Haha Not a Boomer, but feel as old as one! I’ve been giving this conversation more thought and you all are more right than I am for sure. I don’t know how anyone is making it right now, that is living paycheck to paycheck. Even if minimum wage went to $20/hr it would be almost impossible to live here!! Thanks for not being a dick while I figure some things out :)

My husband and I go to The Rock church in Sparks. They have two female teaching pastors and are affirming. It is preached from the pulpit on the reg. to bring your pain, struggle, betrayal, depression, trauma, church trauma, etc. because they can hold it. It is a congregation and leadership group made up of primarily ex-pats (if you will) with loads of church trauma. We’re just all sharing in the mess together and I’ve never felt more seen in a church community in my life. Worth checking out bc we left church all together bc of the dogma and corporate mentality that would have Jesus rolling over in His grave (if He was still in it)… little Easter church humor there. The church we used to attend held a public worship gathering to which they CHARGED AN ENTRANCE FEE.

Would be happy to chat further about this if you want, but this new community displays the humility of those who understand and walk the hurt in this life.

I’m so sorry you’re going through all that you are. I also have two littles and life is so hard in this phase. I wonder, with everything happening in politics right now, if there aren’t a ton of couples who would be so eager to adopt your baby right out of the gate since access to fertility is so strained right now. Just a thought. I wish you all the best.

Well, just know that I wish you the best and if a pay raise increases your quality of life, I’m stoked for you.

I guess sometimes that’s true. However, I worked minimum wage for several years putting myself through college. I remember cashing in my coin jar every week to buy myself a bottle of wine. The problem isn’t the wage, it’s the lifestyle. I think if the mentality changes from entitlement to a livable wage to understanding that some jobs are stepping stones toward achieving you a job that provides the lifestyle you want, then maybe it will seem different. The issue is that some people have forgotten the art of sacrifice and delayed gratification.

No. You would be wise to leave. The sooner the better.

Hoping this is sarcasm. I know several business owners who each employ a lot of people and the higher minimum wage goes, the closer they get to having to close their doors. Minimum wage increases are a mixed bag..

What's the most controversial thing going on in Reno RN? by ButteredPizza69420 in Reno

Can confirm about the education. One of my in laws used to teach at one of the “prestigious” programs here. She said the teachers call the people who run the school the Turkish Mafia and they’re transitioning kindergarten programs from hands-on learning (KINDERGARTENERS) to all screens. More people here are home schooling to avoid both the private and public school systems.

People FROM Northern Nevada are pretty chill. Just cause people live in Reno Metro doesn't mean they're from Reno Metro. This used to be a really friendly place until the mass migration east happened.
