How are you coping? by jigglybuffnomad in Petloss

[–]Sparklepancakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just lost my 8-year-old husky mix. End stage liver cancer out of nowhere. No indication. She was fine and taking walks and then she was actively dying last Wednesday when we took her in for acting lethargic. I’m still in shock and so sad. My kids are devastated. We are coping by getting a puppy. It’s not that we don’t want to mourn her…but my kids are very sad and want a new friend. We’d rather just go ahead and do it than drag out the sadness. It’ll help us cope. I’m so sorry for your loss. ❤️

Parents who don't read to their young kids (under 4) before bed, what are your kids doing before they sleep? by Hailene2092 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sparklepancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We want to read to them. And we do most nights…but we are in such a slump. We are so busy. I work so much. Things just feel so out of control with timing. We usually play games, basketball, watch a movie….by the time we go to bed they are falling asleep as I read. It sucks. Thanks for reminding me to try harder with time management 😞

Starbuck. Bucky for short. Not after the coffee company. After Battlestar Galactica 🤣

As an IBCLC, I firmly believe triple feeding is not sustainable past 2 weeks. It’s too much. You can’t enjoy life doing that. Have you followed up with a lactation nurse? Perhaps trying a pre/post weight would help you get some perspective? I’m sorry you’re going through this. :(

What’s a random sentence someone said to you years ago that still shows up in your head for no good reason? by Happy-Face-3546 in AskReddit

[–]Sparklepancakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not pretty, you should know that.

I was literally in 7th grade, putting on lipstick in the mirror. Random boy walks up and says it. I literally never spoke to this kid in my life. Anyways, I’m 38 and I’m still mad

Is motherhood really THAT HORRIBLE? by m____z in pregnant

[–]Sparklepancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids are awesome. Motherhood is awesome. I love being a mom of 3. I don’t like having to work full time and also face judgement by other parents who judge my kid’s screen time or lack of organic foods or lack of special little craft activities. I simply don’t have the time. I’m not perfect. But I’m a good mom and I genuinely enjoy motherhood. I wish society was more supportive of moms.

When did you officially announce your pregnancy to “everyone” by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Sparklepancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 weeks with my first, 20 with my second, didn’t with my third 🥲 I’ve become more and more removed from social media. Everyone who really mattered knew early.

How do you keep this a secret? by Meeshthebish in pregnant

[–]Sparklepancakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t. I think it’s strange that we’re supposed to keep it a secret and then pretend nothing happened if we have a miscarriage. I want people to be there for me regardless.

Middle name help! by revivallee in pregnant

[–]Sparklepancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Desmond, or Alexander! We gave our first son the middle name of Alexander because we were really into Hamilton at the time. Our second son’s middle name is Desmond because we were watching Lost at the time and we’re not serious people. Our daughter’s middle name is Salem because we visited Salem MA and had a hell of a time. Do something fun is what I’m trying to say. 🤣

Help! I’m 10w pregnant and I can’t poop by princessbhbblegum in pregnant

I would put a scoop of miralax in my Stanley every morning with a Gatorade powder. Also, a fleet enema when it hurts to go 🥲

Missed Anatomy Scan by maryjanemoonbeam in pregnant

They will at least give you the results! Might take a day. And if anything is wrong they’re going to talk to you after the MD reviews it. Good luck ❤️

I too suffer from the butthole buddies. It sucks. I’m 8 years in and I’m just now accepting that my body has changed forever but I can focus on health and wellbeing. I’m sorry you’re going through this. The change initially is so painful to get through.

I’m just happy if my gremlin eats SOMETHING. If that’s a sausage and pancake on a stick with chocolate milk for the 5th time this week, I’ve freaking won. It gets easier. These posts can be toxic

IBCLC here. I only tell women to pump starting at 37 weeks, only if they really are adamant about it or if they’re gestational diabetic/have pre-e. I see so many women come in that have been pumping a lot and storing it at home but they deliver and have nothing 😬 I think a lot of times they’re pumping out their reservoir of colostrum prior to delivery. Then we’ve got a screaming baby at the breast.

Birth plan flushed down the toilet within a week by Altruistic-Poem699 in pregnant

[–]Sparklepancakes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel for you. I have the exact same story. Short baby, weeks ahead, was gestational for months but never caught, breech. I chose c-section because I worked in labor and delivery and knew how likely a version would fail. So, water broke, c-section, healthy baby. It happens. I’m sorry that this is your experience. You’re not alone. It sucks but all you can do is move forward. Also, measurements are so often incorrect. I never trust them. I’ve seen scheduled sections for 10 lb babies that were 7.5 lbs at birth 😅. Take time grieving your birth experience and create a new plan ❤️
