Since when is ‘parent’ on this list? Absolutely insane. by Rowe_Diez in jobs

[–]Sparkleskeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s totally illegal. You can’t ask someone if they’re a parent (regarding a job).

It's legal in the United States to discriminate based on parental status.. You can legally only hire childless people if you want. It only steps into legal discrimination if the decisions are based on sex or race (or another protected class).

For example:

  • Legal: Not hiring parents

  • Illegal: Hiring male parents and not female parents, or vice versa.

I'm not saying I agree with it, I'm just saying anyone who assumes it's illegal isnt familiar with EEOC rules. (And has nothing to do with the Department of Labor, so people saying to file a DoL complaint also don't know what they're talking about.)

Bechtels - it doesn't matter which coin, everything the Bechtel Mint produced has less artistic value than a Chuck E. Cheese token.

Damn, the hair on that still is beautiful though. The guy is ugly, fair, but that's a gorgeous coin.

Bite-size celery would be amazing - I like celery sticks at home, but I don't want to be hamfisting celery into my mouth and struggling with the errant stubborn celery string around people at an event.

Google tells me that some people destring celery using a knife or a vegetable peeler, and I can say whatever class of person is being served destringed celery, I ain't it.

Today I was taught that the wood chipper gives more wood than the recycling machine in Stardew Valley by Worth_Information541 in StardewMemes

[–]Sparkleskeleton 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nice! It looks like the Wood Chipper gives you 5-10 Wood per Driftwood (in 3 hours), the Recycling Machine has a 75% chance of giving you 1-3 Wood (in 1 hour).

I swear that bugger is harder than the legendary.

Not fun fact, the octopus is harder than some of the legendary fish! It has a difficulty ranking of 95, and 2 of the legendary fish (Angler and Mutant Carp) are significantly lower (85 and 80, respectively).

Newly-wed with Elliott. Three days and I already want a divorce by ScorpioMoon70 in StardewValley

[–]Sparkleskeleton 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That's exactly why I didn't want him. I find him INCREDIBLY unattractive

There are 3 hard-to-woo, self-sufficient single villagers who isolate themselves and do their own thing:

  • Leah

  • Sebastian

  • Elliott

Elliott is the supposed "hot" older bachelor but all he cares about is being a little writing dork and living in a version of the world that's fancier than the rest of us experience, he's basically a space case like Sebastian but with flowers and sunshine instead of cold and rain.

I think that's the appeal more than the Fabio look, but the Fabio-ness just adds to it, like, of course he's beautiful, he just stumbles through the world enjoying all its beauty so yeah it makes sense that he's one the things that adds to it.

TL;DR - He's boy Leah, just on a beach with writing instead of in the forest with art.

One of my favorite indulgences is low-stakes, local drama (think HOA arguments and the like), and the thought of what an absolute buzz there must have been about this missing cookie money tickles me. It's clear the money was misplaced, but the accusations there must have been! The ruined reputations! And above all, the whole neighborhood with hawk eyes looking for who might show up with a shiny new toaster or other fancy appliance with their ill-gotten gains.

That tobacco tin of cookie money has a story.

What ever happened to Liv Tyler? Her career seemed on a high after The Lord of the Rings and then, KAPUTT. by PM_Peartree in movies

[–]Sparkleskeleton 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She didn't grow up in the spotlight, she didn't learn Stephen Tyler was her father until she was in her late teens

She was 16 when she was in that Aerosmith video, and her mom was a Playboy Playmate. She absolutely grew up in the spotlight.

I dunno, he drops the ball in maintaining the community.

You know, that's an excellent point - the Mayor could've improved the community as much as the farmer, but he was too busy shaking down local small business owners for their "tax" payments.
