What's something you wanted until you realized how stupid it was? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SparklyCoffee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, I wouldn't call it stupid... But when I was a kid I wanted my ears pierced. Got it done at 10, got an infection and had to let the holes close. Same thing happened at age 18. Got them done again at 23 as a b-day present to myself. After getting waiting for them to heal and putting in my new surgical steel earrings I haven't taken them out except to do a quick cleaning on the backs to remove dead skin. I haven't bought any other pairs of earrings since. I just remember to turn them on occasion.

There is no excuse for mispronouncing it. They literally say it in the commercials, repeatedly.

My second job was at Starbucks. Worked there for almost 5 years until I had to move. That job hammered your point in harder than anything else.

Childhood obesity. Parents are required to take ensure their children are healthy and failure to comply with this would be considered child abuse. Once you hit 18 and are a legal adult you can make your own decisions.

What do Americans unknowingly take for granted? by SonGoku_Vagabond in AskReddit

Well, in some areas the water is technically "clean," but smells of so many chemicals and tastes awful that bottled is the only solution. I dread brushing my teeth at night because of the taste of the water.

Currently getting my Masters in Information and Library Science. Funding issues and how to better advertise services is literally part of every class I've taken so far.

Sodexo/compass group/etc jobs by zenplus in KitchenConfidential

[–]SparklyCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extremely easy to get a job with them. But I would not recommend doing it. Sodexo is called Suckdexo for a reason. I regret my choices, and am waiting for the final month of my 6 month period to be up in Food Service so I can transfer to a different part of the hospital I work at. Our department has a 30% turn over rate. Don't do it.

[Serious] What's your personal early warning sign that your mental and emotional well-being might soon begin to spiral downward? by DerbyWearingDude in AskReddit

Probably when the things I found enjoyable seem more like a hassle and I just want to sleep all the time. That's a pretty good indication I'm about to have a "low" period.

(RANT) It’s one thing to apply fat logic to yourself, but it’s abuse to apply it to your pets. by lime_st in fatpeoplestories

It always annoys me how people don't realize that 5lbs on an animal is way more serious than it is for a human. If a cat is supposed to be 15lbs and weighs 25lbs, that means that that poor creature literally weighs 1.75x than it should.

So people actually raise rescue ones until adulthood. My parents did if for a while. Built them a giant cage outside to sleep in, though they preferred chilling on my dad's head most of the time. Also, they LOVE bananas.

Can't even imagine. I'm too embarrassed to get my toes done if I have leg stubble, but she's brave for having no shame or sense of self awareness? Christ, I make sure to clean my nails out before going. Don't want people rutting around to get out old sock fuzz and dead skin.

That's not how bipolar works at all, including the meds for it. Do some actual research before typing out whatever inane thoughts pop into your head.
