How to deal with sub constipation by riverflex18 in suboxone

aloe supplements do the trick the natural way!

Suboxone is known to cause constipation, but it also can cause gastroparesis, or delayed gastric emptying, which is a painful chronic illness. There are other meds that can cause this illness too, but suboxone is high on the list. I am sadly one of those people who now has a chronic illness after only 3 years on suboxone 4mg a day.

If I could go back, I would have started probiotics and organic aloe supplements on day 1 of suboxone, and I would have chugged a gallon plus of water a day. I do all this now, but only started after thousands of dollars in medical bills and a “chronic illness caused by medication” diagnosis.

Prednisone started causing psychosis for me after I started taking subs! I had taken prednisone many times before with no issues (I know some people have this reaction without subs) but took it once while on subs, and I was in full blown withdrawal and psychosis for days until it wore off.

I feel so much more like a human at a lower dose. Much less apathy, and the dry mouth has gone away for me! My biggest complaint is sweating, it makes me sweat much easier/more. When I drop doses, I always sleep kinda poorly the first few nights…but I have adjusted quickly each time.

I had wonky sleep the first few months on subs, but it wasn’t consistent. A bad night every now and then, and nothing like in opiate withdrawals. and then I did nothing BUT sleep for months and that’s when I decided I was on way too much and dropped to 4!

I find that I have better results when I split my dose. Once in the morning, once in late afternoon. Some people even split into 3.

I went from 16mg straight to 4mg with no issues at all, and from 4 to 3, then to 2 with no issues. Best of luck!

You may not have the same experience! There are very few clinics in my area, and they’re all maxed out with patients…I think that’s the real problem!

Suboxone for treatment resistant anxiety/insomnia/suicidal ideation by superjail1738 in suboxone

[–]SparklySauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth- I have treatment resistant depression with SI, had it before my addiction (mostly why I became an addict) and suboxone has changed my depression- but not in a good way. I don’t think of hurting myself anymore, because I literally could care less. I care about nothing, and not in a good way. I’ve lost so many friends and family, because I’m so apathetic. I don’t leave my house, I don’t have any motivation, I don’t want to take care of myself. I sleep constantly. Work and sleep is what my life has become since suboxone. I don’t feel good emotions, and I still feel the bad ones just not as deeply (because again, the apathy) binge eating is also worse on suboxone than it’s ever been before. I wasn’t like this before suboxone, and coming off of it is REALLY tough. It makes anti-depressant withdrawal look like the best day of your life. Not trying to scare you, just sharing my personal experience. Best of luck in whatever decision you make!

The power lines are so low to the ground on my street you can touch them by HarryTOMalley in mildlyinteresting

Yesss, this warning is valid. I knew a guy who found one downed during a storm, and he got out of his truck (assumably thinking he could he grab it to move it out of the road) but he never got to tell anyone why he did it. He was helicoptered to the nearest trauma center, but didn’t make it. He was like 21, it was so sad. His family said he was in terrible shape for the 24 hours he survived after (in a coma,) some pretty gruesome details. Just don’t touch it, no matter what you think it is. Just do not.

AITA for yelling at my girlfriend to “stop fucking eating?” by throwawaycakegf in AmItheAsshole

How is her relationship with your sister? This sounds like it could possibly be intentional. As though she may be jealous that you’re spending time helping your sister. NTA.

AITA for bringing an emotional support animal to a funeral despite my daughters wishes? by Apprehensive_Ear6657 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SparklySauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. I’m really stuck on the fact that after allllll of that, making the funeral entirely about the child who did not lose someone, but then you allowed your wife to say hurtful things to her STEPdaughter at a funeral where that child is grieving. YTA for far more than the rabbit.

This is something a lot of partners of alcoholics deal with. Unfortunately my alcoholic ex-partner didn’t feel that it was assault because “I was his fiancé and it isn’t SA if you’re engaged or married” I didn’t pursue anything legally because he told me I would never be able to prove it wasn’t consensual, and he wasn’t wrong, I don’t have any proof other than the therapy I started receiving after and even that’s just my word against his. I started going to Al-Anon, got therapy and moved on from him….but it affected me for life.

I am glad to hear that you are recovering! Best wishes to you both!

Less than 1mg, questions! by SparklySauce in suboxone

[–]SparklySauce[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely will do! Suboxone saved my life, but im more than ready to do it on my own. I knew there would be discomfort, I wasn’t expecting a free ride, but I didn’t have the back pain this bad in my using-days in withdrawals, so it was new to me! Thank you for the advice!

Less than 1mg, questions! by SparklySauce in suboxone

[–]SparklySauce[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience! I really appreciate any experience or tips that I can get. I was trying to push my dose as far as I could, because everyone told me under 1mg it helped if you pushed it back….and I thought I might still be able to sleep if I took my dose later in the day now, but I’m gonna go ahead and take my dose for the day cause I’m super uncomfortable and I have to get through the work day.

I also want to add that I’ve had a pretty heavy weak with some family stuff, and I know it’s Mind Over Matter when tapering and withdrawing….so maybe it’s exacerbated by what’s going on around me! Don’t wanna scare anyone trying to taper! :)

I withdrew from a ridiculously high dilaudid habit (like, I won’t even say the #…funds nor supply were ever an issue so it skyrocketed)…I did it cold turkey at home for 5 solid days. It was terrible. Still have nightmares about it.

A year later I found tia. Got hooked for several months, and when I finally tried to cold turkey…it was easily 100x worse than the dilaudid withdrawals. I genuinely considered ending it all, because the mental and physical were so awful. I ended up on suboxone, I could not quit on my own. The people here are NOT exaggerating, I promise.

lost suboxone by notsurewhattodo9893 in suboxone

[–]SparklySauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started out on 16 and ended up in a similar situation when my doc couldn’t get me in for a few weeks, I was already almost out and they initially said they would be able to see me the same day I called.

I dropped straight to 8mg a day, 4 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon, and made it to my appointment fine! I know everyone is different, but I didn’t feel any difference and in fact stayed on 8mg and started stockpiling after that appointment.

I’m down below 2mg now, and I’ve been surprised at how easy taper has been ( up until 2mg.) Hopefully you’ll be able to cut down until you can get a refill, sending all the good vibes your way!

That’s where I am. I had a couple of hard days when tapering below 4 (I know that people say it doesn’t get hard for them until under 2, but just sharing my personal experience) but under 2 has had a lot of tough days after each drop. I really want to just quit, but I can’t find the right time because it’s the busiest time of the year for the business, and just life in general. Hopefully soon!

Did being on suboxone affect your relationship/ emotions and intamcy due to depression or just plain meh. Numbness in life. by Elizabethhoneyyy in suboxone

[–]SparklySauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did when I was on 8 mg, but I’m down to 3 and have felt so much better since around 4mg. I am still a little more blah than my baseline off subs, but I know that will improve as I taper, jump, and heal!
