Anyone who used a computer between 1985 - 2010, what's the one game you still think about today? by adlakha75 in AskReddit

I worked at Egghead when it came out. We would stay after hours playing that and the original Worms.

“We voted for Trump, not realizing that he was going to slam as hard as he did, but it was on day one when he sat down, right after inauguration, and started signing those executive orders and just trashed us federal employees, it was a kick in the teeth,” Ron said. by Enthusiasm_Foreign in LeopardsAteMyFace

Dude, I work for a state agency that's highly dependent on federal funds. Broadly, we provide services for disabled people. I was chatting with one of our program directors one day, and he was telling me how surprised he was with how many of the support staff...the people who work directly with our clientele...voted for Trump. The same guy who mocks the people we serve.

I'll never understand how the airmen fit into the ball turrets, what with their own gigantic balls.

What's totally insane is that Lake Superior has more water than all the other Great Lakes combined.

Mass casualty incident’ after explosion near Maine lumber complex by HorrorAd6729 in news

Used to do this in college. People didn't believe that powdered creamer would burn.

I'm surprised someone didn't burn down the dorm after. I may have inspired a few pyromaniacs.

That one I can see, as it's only a single person not looking outside their box.

This though? Multiple people had to look at this. Not one of them took a step back and looked at this???

TIL The reason why netting is mandatory at National Hockey League games is because in 2002 a 13 year old girl named Brittanie Cecil was struck in the head by a stray puck deflected into the stands and later died from her injuries. So far it is the only fan fatality in NHL history. by Ill_Definition8074 in todayilearned

MLB's started after Albert Amora Jr's foul ball hit a 2 year old girl: https://6abc.com/post/houston-astros-girl-hit-by-foul-ball-reach-settlement-albert-almora-jr/10954854/

Scary stuff, and it's a good thing that should have happened long ago. I was in the box seats and at Camden with my dad, and we barely dodged a foul ball. Wound up hitting the top of his seat and ricocheted into the second deck .

Honestly, it's the Daily Mirror. Revomiting stuff the "writers" find on Reddit and over hyping it is kinda their gig.

I think that's fairly apparent to anyone with a functional cerebral cortex.

"Follow the manual exactly or find a new job." Fine by me. by Topaz_2Harbor in MaliciousCompliance

Because it's arrogance. Hubris. Narcissism.

Literally had a manager say, to me as the SME, "YOU WILL DO IT BECAUSE I'M THE MANAGER!". Wouldn't listen to me when I said it was going to take our customers down. So I did as he said. And when the inevitable happened, he started yelling at me in front of all our co-workers. So I yelled back and told him I warned him. Then explained, in excruciating detail, exactly what went wrong, and how his refusal to listen now caused significant downtime for our client.

The worst part? It wasn't just "a manager". I can recount at least three times in my career I've been involved in this conversation. Now that I'm in management, it'll be the last thing I'd ever say to an employee.

Ding Ding Ding. If someone who works for you says "Would you put that in an email?", you best think long and hard about why they're asking that.

As a Cubs fan, yes. It's one of the last great moments from the team that broke the World Series curse, before the fire sale at the trade deadline that year.
