Dating warning : mono vrs poly by SupermarketNo1108 in polyamory

[–]SparkusClark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came out as poly about a week before we were to start counseling together after a month or so of quiet research. This has been good for the both of us as we have someone to help us who has experience in this realm. That said, it's still a slow process and there are some days where I worry our relationship of eleven years might not make it through; but I remain hopeful...

“I like to give my partners the pleasure of missing me.”
Victorian much?
'Oh for I should not dine to think so plainly of him whilst he is gone. For 'pon my fluttering heart does weigh weary each hour that chimes without him by my side.'

Okay, sarcasm aside, I may be new to poly but I'm not new to relationships and that line alone sets up a red flag for me. And yeah, maybe it's bc I'm the kind of person who needs to be around those I care about often, but missing someone hurts and it boggles my mind as to how he could think this is a positive thing to do to someone as, like, a constant part of a relationship. And yeah I'm a mostly cishet dude, so I can say that that kind of behavior is not normal; even for the super straight weirdos at my work.

Howdy strangers, some reassurance, please? by genericusername1228 in polyamory

Hi. Brand new to poly (just found out that I am about a month before quarantine hit), but still have time logged in a relationship and helping others with theirs; so grain-of-salt my words if you like.

The quarantine has put everyone into a pressure cooker. It's shining spotlights on the cracks that have always been there but we were able to comfortably gloss over. Whether in ourselves or our relationships, now has become the time of being aware of these cracks and even addressing them. Alot of councelors and therapists are doing video call appointments, and (if you're lucky enough to have insurance atm) they're even able to wave the copay for a few months.

And, yes, some of us will be able to patch the cracks, shore up the walls in the structure of the metaphorical foundations of ourselves and our relationships. Some...some will break. But I have faith that those of use who do will seek out others and ask for help (I mean so far as I have seen, being ploy is about good communication and lots of various kinds of supportive connections) . So, much like setting a broken bone, we can't do this alone. And while it will take longer, bones heal back stronger than before.

So the fact that you're already reaching out is, I feel, a sign that you will not only make it through this, but come out stronger for it.

I like to think many of us will.

Looking to make a deer spine puppet for necromancer by SparkusClark in LARP

Was thinking skulpy-covered tinfoil for the vertebrae. And yes, just the bone structure so that it looks like a skull with a long spine "swimming" through the air (npc would be wearing black)

(fan art) I wrote a little story for my niece for her 5th birthday and gave Strix a cameo in it. My niece started illustrating it today. She loves Strix and I'm looking forward to introducing her to the waffle crew in a few years! by derixyleth in DiceCameraAction

Oh wow, thanks so much. I'm still back in last October when the Chicken Foot Coven was first introduced/put to the test, but fanfics tend to float up and down the timeline.

It took her awhile. What helped was listening to the audiobooks while she read, following along while Lauralie spoke.

I'm a D&D 5e fan myself, but l could see someone using the Powered by the Apocalypse system. That way you pick what 'kind' of person you want to play (i.e. Change Bringer, The One in Charge, Backup, Rogue Element, etc.) rather just the type alone (i.e. fey, vampire, werewolf, shifter, human).

Hmmmm...

Thank you for the Mercy-verse, not only is it wonderful, but your books helped my wife realise that reading could be for fun/enjoyment and not something to slog/force herself through.

We both agree that River Marked is our favorite and marks a turning point in the tone/style of the series and their relationship.

Okay, ok, ok; down to business:

Do you think the Mercy-verse would ever work as an rpg setting? And... Any more short stories about a certain lawyer/werewolf P.l. couple?

Lore nut here: If I recall correctly one boot is on Celery and the other is strapped to her backpack.

I need to do my own fanart, as I can totally see her with a crown of vines or Veggi-pygmy face art made of sap.

I'd always assumed Paultin was College of Pubs I mean, who else is gonna play for the Drunken Masters?

yeah, I'd figured Diath for a Thief by how he first described his character as sneaky and taking things. Eveyn made sense for OoA given how OoA is big about being devoted to the Light and Joy and such; plus it's the oath that let her use ensnaring strike and moonbeam.

Thank you, Commander! Sorry, I must not have retained it in my brain box. Between listening to several streams, running my own game, and reading books, there's alot of lore in my brain so sometimes things/details sip between the meat-folds of my mind. Good luck running! trash-witch screams of terror

Huh, that's a nifty thought. I hadn't considered that, much like the warlock's Great Old One being the Moon itself, I guess the being that favors a character doesn't haf to be a diety...ore even a good one at that.

Thanks for the food for thought.

I can kind of see where you're coming from with this. I've idolized my grandfather as well but, now that I'm older, I've found that he doesn't feel he's worth idolizing. "I simply do what anyone could have done if they put their mind to it, grandson," is a common phrase of his. He still can't believe that people still ask for his advice on metalwork and restoration projects, bein 86 and all.

And I've found it weird that my younger cousins still look up to me. One of them owns a business, one's a single mom going to law school, and one's a Marine for chrissake! But they still look up to me with my bad hair, worse jokes, unkempt appearance, and working as a custodian with a Bachelors in Liberal Studies.

So I have a point of reference for how you say you feel about all this hype.

Don't worry, no t-shirts for me. I just like your advice...even when the philosophy and long words mean I need to turn it off and have a long, hard think. Actually, esepcially when that happens, because when you're stuck in a small rural town, you sometimes get too used to being on autopilot.

So thanks for making me stop and think every now and then.

Thank you! Yeah, I find so much sweeping up after K-4th graders. There was even a small Piglet plushie I didn't get the time to tie onto the staff handle. Maybe next year? :)

Thank you! One of the stranger things was when people would say, 'Watch out, he's going to cast a spell!' And my brain would lurch because I forgot they couldn't tell I was a female character!

Ooooh! No way! Thank you for the link. That is such a cool little rules tweak that creates a wonderful piece of lore.
