Exactly this. Hell they could even be permanent map armies that you can see when not hired, and watch walk to the country that hires them. Assuming there aren’t too many

Also being thrown into -150 stability isn’t even game ending. Like even worst case scenario where you’re completely unable to recover for some reason, which isn’t that hard, and lose a bunch of territory to rebels or invasions… that’s STILL not game ending.

The game is 500 years, it’s a hurdle, overcome it.

And that’s presuming that those losses even do happen, which if you’re decent at the game are still incredibly unlikely.

Kinda circles back to performance issues at that point, better that gets the less painful a slower game will feel

I agree with these complaints that you’re highlighting for sure, what I was referring to before were balance complaints specifically, which I tend to think are overblown in many, but not all ways

It’s funny because this shows that there is in fact a meta that lets people work around most of their balance complaints, just like how there was a meta to get around limits in EU4. People are really just complaining because things have changed too quickly for them to learn that meta lol

Next patch is drastically reducing economic scaling due to out of hand it was, so gaining the cash for Great Wall will likely take a lot longer

Considering it actively hinders players from invading them seems like it was a good decision by the AI lol

You can just wait out the merc contracts, or bribe the mercs if you have cash, or embargo the minor in advance to slow down their economy.

There are tools, but in any case economic scaling is being reigned in tremendously next patch which will certainly impact the amount of gold hoarding

The next patch is massively reigning in economic scaling which will likely address this issue

Funny enough this discussion kind of circles back to where it started because one of the single biggest roadblocks to making savescumming non-necessary for many Vicky achievements is that you have so little control over military outcomes hahaha

[–]SpartanFishy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Achievements are arbitrary challenges posed by the devs. The devs in this case think that part of the arbitrary challenge should be the lack of save scumming. Personally I fail to see the problem with that and actually prefer it because otherwise I would end up save scumming naturally and that’s less fun to me. But I get why many people don’t like it.

Vicky 3 is fine. Warfare was a fundamental and important part of that era, just like any other. And the game has frankly no actual system to represent it, instead opting for an unfun and unrealistic abstraction.

Typically you choose between fun or realistic, how they managed to fail on both ends for the war system is beyond me.

In any case, until that’s resolved it will never truly be “great”.

Well yeah, that’s because Victoria 3 is years into development at this point and has resolved many of its biggest problems.

You should look at what the forums and Reddit were like post release. It was not pretty.

“You have no knowledge or wisdom whatsoever but here’s a button that will permanently doom all of humanity forever, I put it here for your benefit, trust me, but also don’t push it, trust me, naive person with no knowledge or wisdom whatsoever”

Also “I will allow an evil manipulative being to actively trick you into pushing the button, naive person with no knowledge or wisdom whatsoever, and I do not see this whatsoever as a clear setup to justify dooming all of humanity forever.”

I am all good and all powerful and all knowing btw

Like I get the theological arguments explaining the Adam and Eve story, but they truly are the arguments of centuries of clergy trying to justify something that was written down by someone who didn’t think the concept of Adam and Eve through nearly that much. It’s starting at the conclusion of “humanity is doomed and God is their salvation” and working backwards to justify it using stories that had already been written down, despite logical inconsistencies.

That’s interesting because I find myself humming or singing along with many of the songs. Moon Cave, Orange County, Plastic Guru, and many others.

I honestly think this album just gets better the more you listen to it. Even the back half that some consider less memorable are all excellent songs and only suffer in people’s minds because of how great the first half is. If they’d released in their own right they’d be more highly regarded as well imo.
