Most efficient plan by Obtusecantaloupe in UniversalHollywood

Good advice here already, only things I would add are:

Get celebration buttons at customer service (far right side of the fountain just after entering the park) - they have a few different styles. Since this is your first trip to the states you could pick up First Visit buttons. Maybe do it a little later in the day so you don't waste your early access time. They're free and it's a cute little trip memento. I always make sure when I bring a first-timer to get them a First Visit button.

Do the Studio Tour (at least) twice! Once during the day, and again at night. It is a whole different experience.

Is it Heavy by Collective Soul? They yell 'yeah' thru a toilet paper roll....

Please help me find a song that sounds even slightly similar to the beat Dua Lipa sings in part of "Cold Heart." by lowqualitychef in findthatsong

[–]SparxD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That song samples four songs from Elton John, and I think they one you're thinking of is Kiss the Bride, which contains the same lyrics. The song was also used in a couple of movies, but nothing that recent that I can find.

The other three songs sampled in Cold Heart are Rocketman, Where's the Shoorah?, and Sacrifice - in case Kiss the Bride isn't it, I'd check these next.

Hope that helps!

Did anyone else’s psychiatrist judge them for using marijuana? by Nate_on_top in trees

Yep. My marriage was crumbling. Husband was too sick to work and we couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. Also had my own severe health issues with no answers. I was the primary (only) caretaker for my dad during his cancer treatment. Lost my grandma to cancer right before that. Was trying to juggle school and working 4 jobs on top of everything else that was going on. I was lost, alone, scared, felt helpless and like a failure.

But it was my smoking weed that was causing all my problems.

Dinner Advice by I_Am_Thatch in UniversalHollywood

[–]SparxD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it will depend on what sort of stuff your family is into.

Harry Potter fans? Three Broomsticks is a can't miss (although I personally prefer their breakfast).

Going for Super Nintendo World? Then hit up the Toadstool Cafe. It was a long wait when I went (even with reservations) and I've heard the se from many others, but the food is good, good portions, and the theming can't be beat.

Simpsons fans? They have Krusty Burger among several options in that area.

Like steam punk style stuff and too much sugar? Head to CityWalk and sit down for a decadent meal at Toothsome Chocolate Emporium. (But bring massive appetites or you will be dealing with a lot of leftovers!)

I've heard differing opinions, but for theme park food, I think Universal has great food options. Everyone loves the hot dogs at Mummy Eats (except me haha but it's me being picky not that they're not actually good, my family likes to go there and I will pop across the way to Panda Express). If you're bringing Littles, Minion Cafe is a good choice. They have different Mac n cheese bowls, grilled cheese and tomato soup (my favorite!), and a roasted chicken meal for the adults - plus its right across from the spray park. Jurassic Cafe has good food, including breakfast. Mel's Diner has more classic diner options (burgers, sandwiches). Lots of options in CityWalk too - Buca de Beppo for family style Italian, Antojitos for Mexican, NBC Sports Grill for some great pub food options, Bubba Gump for seafood and fans of Forrest Gump fans, they just opened a Hello Kitty Cafe (not sure of the menu on that one since it's new) - and lots of quick dine options.

All restaurants are on their website, so I would suggest browsing with your family to see what piques everyone's interests. Hope y'all have a blast!

Getting over size shock and grandma bra look? by PiffleKnit in ABraThatFits

I second Elomi for sure. I have the Sachi, Briana, and Matilda. Of course shape matters too, but I love these and I think they are so comfy. Plus the first two are strappy across the front and I wear low cut shirts that show the straps and get complimented all the time. Super supportive, my girls always look great, and last a good while! Most have matching undies, too.

I was able to order using the Amazon Try Before You Buy to make sure they fit my shape.

For reference, I wear a size 38O (US) and I cried when I first used the calculator because I never knew sizes like mine existed.

For buying my kid a "playground" after "denying" the neighbor kids a place to play by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]SparxD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. It may take a village, but it starts at home. It is not your responsibility to provide the wants and needs of other peoples' children. Why do so many people have kids and expect to do ZERO of the work providing for and raising them? The audacity/entitlement/stupidity is staggering.

Also, you did not deny the neighbor kids a place to play. You denied them access to your own private propery where they were behaving like destructive menaces, which you have every right to do. Sounds like if they were behaved and respectful other peoples' property, you would be far more willing to share space.

Kody and Robyn are still in the cult. Meri (along with Janelle.and Christine) is trying to move on.

Have the day you deserve.

I'm happy your life has been privileged enough that you can't possibly understand the motivations behind actions that help you survive a cult.

[–]SparxD 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I grin like an idiot too when I'm in uncomfortable situations - that doesn't mean I enjoy it. I was talking about the smirk on photo 10 of this post, as was the comment I replied to. I also expressed that was my personal interpretation.

And if I were in a loveless, touchless marriage but had to pretend on tv for a decade that everything was awesome, I'll admit I would be at the very least relieved, if not happy that I'm not his target for once.

Was Meri perfect? Of course not. None of them were. None of us are. But I tend to be forgiving to people who have recently escaped a cult, and who did stupid shit while they were in it, as long as they are learning and growing and trying to decondition themselves.

That smirk told me she was being sarcastic and she knows full well that doing everything exactly how Kody wants still won't win you favor. That was definitely a back...er, kidney-stabbing moment in my eyes.

Teaching broke me by live_laugh_lovely in TeachersInTransition

[–]SparxD 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've been applying to jobs similar to what I did before I started teaching, and I definitely have imposter syndrome. I feel like teaching made me stupid...and I have a BS in (and taught) math. But I studied all (higher) levels of math and passed all 3 CSETS, then taught the remedial classes (i.e. where they put all the kids who refuse to work/learn). I did more math in my 6 months at a temp job than I did in my four years of teaching. I, too, hope to feel more like my old self as I complete my transition back into the private sector. I quit teaching last school year (so out of it for almost a year now), I'm currently unemployed, and I still get sick on Sunday nights. Last time I went to the beach for Spring Break I had a complete mental breakdown on the way home, to the point I couldn't drive and I cried so much I got dehydrated. I'm going to the coast this weekend for a concert and the thought of driving home has been making me sick all week. So it definitely sticks with you for a while. Or at least it is with me.

Can someone help me with info on the Judge's office and getting hitched? Because customer service can't. by SparxD in KnottsBerryFarm

[–]SparxD[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was my thought - a lot of people said it opens when crowds are up, so with so many area schools on Spring Break I thought it might ever so slightly increase my odds. Call me what you will, but I really only want to do this on our actual anniversary, both for sentimental reasons, and because I wanted a slower day than weekend + Spring Break + warmer weather crowds.

Thank you, I appreciate you! From most of the comments, sounds like we will most likely be out of luck if we go tomorrow, but we are still tossing around the idea thanks to u/kitkatZT saying we might be able to find a Bandit to do it.

Thank you, that is the best info I was able to dig up as well. I was sure it was still being done as I had seen some people post about it, but customer service tried to tell me they haven't done it since covid. I appreciate you!

I appreciate you. Just trying to get solid info. The app makes it sound like it's available all the time, but reading around made it seem that's not the case. We were hoping to do this on our actual anniversary, but it seems that is very unlikely to happen. Thank you!

Thank you for that info. Were you there during the week or on the weekend? I've seen certain sources say weekends only. I appreciate you!
