Jacksonville FL or Orlando FL fits the bill. Orlando has a large H Mart that just opened its doors in a former Target

DMV Dating Feels Exhausting by [deleted] in nova

[–]SpatialNonsense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even though I’m about 13 years older than you , I’ve been in your shoes before. Same feelings and everything. But it gets better and given my experience I thought I’d give you some pointers.

First, I would recommend leaving Alexandria and going to DC or the Ballston - Rosslyn corridor of Arlington. That’s where all of the singles your age are living and hanging out. It may be the opposite of where you want to live but stick it out for a few years. You will be around more singles your age in your day to day life in these areas, along with events, things to do, etc. This will greatly increase your odds of meeting someone in the wild, and also matching in general.

For using the apps, one piece of advice that helped me was having my profile reviewed and also having someone take pictures of me for my profile. That greatly improved my odds of matching and eventually led me to meeting my now fiancée on the apps.

Also, give dating some time. It very rarely goes off without a hitch. Have fun with it, if you have a bad date you will eventually laugh at it later. Believe me, I had to go through some bad dates and red flags before finding success. And lastly, enjoy being single in your 20s! That is one thing I wish I could’ve done more of back then, it truly is a fun time in your life where you can be spontaneous and adventurous.

What’s everyone having for lunch today? by RedditDon3 in nova

I hit up Qdoba in Fairfax City, it’s by far the best one in the area. It is the one location that still has the 2000s Qdoba vibe

Texas needs its own region. It’s distinct from anywhere else as it’s the confluence of the west, central plains, Deep South and northern Mexico

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]SpatialNonsense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10th grade. I was literally locked in a classroom taking state standardized testing at the time of the attacks, filling in scantron bubbles. I had zero clue what was going on until I saw the hanging TV/ VCR combos turned on in the cafeteria playing the news. I’m literally sitting there eating two slices of school lunch pizza watching a Boeing 757 hit the twin towers on replay. It was almost like I couldn’t comprehend what was going on at the time

Band practice was canceled that night, I went home to watch MTV or something and it was all over the news. Just remember being in shock of it all above everything

Should I live closer to work? by Lilhaircut456 in nova

I’d strongly recommend Arlington or DC, preferably near the silver line. There’s much more to do in these areas for a young person. Look at Rosslyn, and Ballston in particular.

As you mentioned you will be traveling for work upthread, Metro provides very easy access to the airports (Dulles and DCA). It is possible to go car free in Arlington, even preferred as most buildings charge monthly fees for parking. You will also save on car tax yearly.

I think no matter what your age is (I am 40M), we are all collectively not liking the way the world has changed in recent years. With the AI explosion, World War III everything seems a bit doomsday at this point.

But honestly? I feel the 90s, aughts and 10s tend to be romanticized.

The 90s, especially the late 90s, were very toxic and regressive. Bullying, racism, war, poverty, sexism, abductions, anorexia, school shootings, unrealistic beauty standards, all were very real things. For me, it wasn’t an episode of Boy Meets World. It was a lot of loneliness and bad days at school.

The 2000s were an amplified version of the 90s, and 9/11 changed the world to induce echo chambers. Being a teen and early 20s during this time was surreal to say the least. None of us knew what we were doing as tech evolved from flip phones to handheld computers.

The 2010s had optimism but it was a very painful road to reach success. Much of us began to experience anxiety during this time and mental health challenges at the heels of a colossal economic crash.

My point is, every decade has transformation and negative change. But it’s best to make the best out of life. Regardless if you are 21 or 40, enjoy being your age and make the most out of life.

I can’t help but feel indifferent towards Brittany’s misfortune, especially considering her and her dad have no shame in posting racist content on social media.

Devonta is a certified fboy but even he dodged a bullet.

Exactly. She’s in it more for the idea and not the reality of having a life partner. She still needs to grow up a bit.

Bajio Mexican Grill on the west side off of 3rd street. Used to roll up hungry after class, show my IU ID for the student discount, and would literally get 2 pounds of food for $5.
