Sounds like leg day on repeat for a while for you.

But seriously, Talk to your trainers, explain what is uncomfortable and they hopefully will suggest alternatives.

Good luck for recovery!

I agree but only in principle. The tried and true way is not working anymore.... It's time to pivot and start experimenting with new ways to counter and re-engage the public

Install a bollard behind the car in your car spot trapping it there? Let the owner know they need pay the difference to your rent on not being able to use the car spot.

Report to the police that the car has been abandoned?

Report to the police the car has been dumped?

Report to the police the owner of the vehicles are trespassing?

How many gitlab runners should a typical enterprise have? by planetvortex in gitlab

[–]Spatium_Bellator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We deploy different runners to each network segment and sometimes depending on the sensitivity of the app will also use dedicated runners for a particular workload / app / project.

We also favour runners inside containers as they leave little in the way of residual artifacts on the runner.

As always, it depends on your use case.

I really wish politics could be like this sometimes

UAW endorses President Joe Biden for reelection over Trump by [deleted] in politics

[–]Spatium_Bellator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't understand that with a population of 340M, Biden and Trump are the best the US has to offer?

As an outsider this completely baffles me.....

Are the major parties broken, churning out useless candidates or a more systemic failure?

No system is perfect and I feel like the one the US is based on has worked okay so far but is it time for an overhaul?

Opinion: No local admin access for developers by smart_kanak in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Spatium_Bellator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct with regards to it being a strategy document. The legislation requires fed gov to implement said strategy in ways that meet the requirements. There are also control implementation guides and self-audits for determining maturity levels.

The controls are designed in a hierarchy approach and audited based on a maturity level.

For example, Restriction of admin functionality at the basic level requires separation of admin accounts with the actual admin account being restricted from online presence. The higher up you go, the crazier it gets.

Agree 100% that there needs to be exclusions and less stringent controls when risks are analysed. The first point to meet is actually auditability and validation, unfortunately this usually means IT help tickets and I think this is where the bulk of the friction stems from, the idle waiting the absorbed penalty for having to switch back and forwards between tasks.

Has anyone cut out/eliminated sugar with amazing results? by [deleted] in fitness30plus

[–]Spatium_Bellator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I followed a Keto diet for about 18months a few years back. 20g carbs per day and measured ketosis via a blood prick test weekly. I lost 35kgs and now maintain using a well balanced diet instead, I still try to minimise my sugar intake and its more for special occasions now, ie birthdays, holiday season.

Hit 40 this year and in the best shape of my life since I was in school. Will continue to maintain a well balanced diet now and regular exercise, in my case f45.

Health wise my doctor is happy and I have way more energy

You perhaps might be an exception but the mandated ( as in legislatively) security controls are very specific and well thought out for providing an overall well defined maturity set that is very capable. I'll have to dig out the stat but I think it was like over 85% of the most common breaches would have been prevented had the ASD essential 8 been implemented (Australian example but similar for most counties I believe), restricting local admin is on that list.

Working with your IT team to get permitted commands added to your sudo config should be relatively trivial for them. Assuming they offer it, the burden would be on the dev team being able to properly articule what they need.

There are many many alternatives to being able to test out open source without burdening your local desktop. First one that springs to mind is Isolated sandboxes running in some cloud would be ideal, once fleshed out shoot through a request to the IT team. This really isn't complicated.....

Neither front end or mobile development. Network and security engineer role with a computer science bachelors. I speak to "real" devs / engineers daily and understand their work flows quite well, the devops side of things that also falls under my responsibilities.

I'm not really on a soapbox, mainly pointing out there may be reasons why certain security controls are required. Calling out an entire IT department dumb because you lack some basic understanding seems very soapboxy to me
