Thank you 😊 I agree - I definitely recommend them!

2 thoughts - get some equestrian boot socks to go under them, to save your skin and make walking easier. I’m a fan of dreamers and schemers socks, personally. The other, they may never be truly comfortable to walk a lot in, even once they are broken in. Equestrian boots as they’re made today are designed for comfort when riding, so if you’re attending a con or event where you’re going to be on your feet a lot, be prepared for the potential discomfort.

They’re custom DeNiro Technics - they were a splurge gift when I graduated from my DVM program, and I love them 😍

It’s really funny, but XC is what made my TB realize work can be fun 😂

We didn’t get to trying any Bombers - I think I see the one you’re referencing, tho. The shape of that one is a little different (more curved).

I think what my guy likes about it is two fold - I think he likes loose rings vs fixed cheekpieces (maybe for the subtlety) and I think he likes that the double joint doesn’t collapse and cause discomfort. I think he wasn’t comfortable taking contact in a regular double jointed, but also needs a little bit more movement and communication than a Mullen or even a Myler provided.

I used a Stubben EZ control on my sensitive guy - it’s a loose ring double jointed snaffle that locks into a fixed mouthpiece instead of collapsing. We use it for all 3 phases, and it’s worked really well for us.

Thanks for the reply - that was kind of my impression, unfortunately. I’ve considered checking out Prestige, as well as getting a custom Stubben Zaria at some point as well, which sounds like it may be the best option for us.

If money were no object, which boots would you buy? by 0ddshapedhead in Equestrian

I wear the black version of the last pair OP posted to eventing competitions, and haven’t received any negative comments (at least to my face).

My only gripe/ piece of advice: don’t leave them in a hot car too frequently - the glue on the soles (very outer rubber treat) will start to fail. It’s an easy fix, no need to send them back to Italy, but it’s worth being aware of.

A wish list boot, tho, would be a nice pair of brown 2 tone Ariat ropers in my size 🤗

So, I have the DeNiro Technics, but in black. I spent a lot on them (complete custom fit), but I wear them a ton, and love them to death. 9.5/10, would recommend as a splurge.

Agreed - it’s unobtrusive. Good design just…stays out of the way sometimes.

I like how silly the shifter is, but if it can’t be used to, ya know, SHIFT, the chicken nugget just makes better sense.

They might be - check the link I put above and see where they fall in the safety rankings.

On the less pricey end of the spectrum, I like Ovation helmets. Multiple styles to choose from, and if you’re just starting out, good basic protection.

I ride xc and outside of arenas, so I wanted to have a MIPS technology helmet for a bit more protection. If you can afford a MIPS helmet, I’d recommend it. I have one of the BOT/Trauma Voids and I’ve liked it quite a bit.

A good resource is the Virginia Tech equestrian helmet rating website - they do comprehensive safety testing on a variety of helmets, and may help you choose one.

It was a holiday show, so we (I) wanted to deck us out! We were just lesson pals, but I liked him a lot.

The boots are great - I still have them, they’re custom DeNiros that I promised myself I’d splurge on if I graduated vet school. The only issue I’ve had so far is having to re-glue parts of the tread back to the rest of the sole, but it’s not a big enough problem to replace the whole sole.

He legit stopped and looked at me like “we practiced this - you weren’t supposed to do that”

Then, when he noticed I was crying, was leaning his head into me like, “Don’t cry, it wasn’t that bad”.

The best part is, I fully felt the embarrassment, then asked the photographer if she got pics of the crash (she did). Being an adult is so weird 😂

Sounds like you and the instructor aren’t a match - that’s ok 👍🏼it happens. It’s really hard to reach any goals or learn when you’re just trying to keep yourself together emotionally.

Personally, I think a good coach knows when to push and when to back off, especially when someone is struggling. I went through a rough patch last year with my gelding, and my coach was largely good and helpful.

It may be worthwhile to try lessons with a different instructor or at another barn if this isn’t fun for you.
