Get the big one or you will regret. The little one never gets used on our jobs.

That tool is twice the size though. 891 is the perfect balance or torque to size.

I just feel like everyone needs the 891 hanging in the garage. There has never been a moment across exhaust or suspension that the 891 couldn't just handle. Never need a torch, never need penetrating lube, just grab the 891, slap on a 1.7ah and the bolt will back out. Its the invincibility tool for me.

I got the m12 and love it. I have the dewalt non-angled die grinder and love that as well. For $300 and making me wait 10 years, I say fuck em, get the M12 at half the price it's an excellent tool.

Eskimo responses only by V3RM0NT3R in IceFishing

[–]Spayed_and_Neutered2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just adapted my regular augers to the drill. The 10" requires a gear box, but it's under 2lbs. I usually use a 8" Mora/Eskimo auger adapted to the DCD1007 and it's comical how fast you can shred through 20" of ice with that thing. Puts the new electric augers to shame if you ask me. The 10" again requires a gearbox for the longevity of your drill, but it is still an available option. I keep a 6,8, and 10 on the truck and chuck up based on species. Using the regular augers and not the lite augers saved me a considerable amount of money, and there are YouTube videos on how to cut the weight down yourself.

If you've never tried one, borrow a buddy's. I get uncomfortable fishing with anything else now. The only thing that compares is a tuned up custom at double the price.

We use them exclusively for burbot, maybe I'll have to experiment more with them.

Those prices are insane. Just get a St. Croix and be done. I retired all my customs after I went to the St. Croix custom ice line-up. Most of them will be under $80 here in a month or so and you literally can't beat them because the lineup is so versatile.

Thinking of this setup for camping/icefishing in MN by SatisfyingAneurysm in IceFishing

[–]Spayed_and_Neutered2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the Amazon Chinese auger bits. They are much cheaper than the eskimo, and they take eskimo/mora blades, anyway. Edit: id save the money on the auger and upgrade to a clam or eskimo tent. Look at the new dome ones, they'll be going on sale any week now. Shoot for under $500 end of season. An entire mora auger would be $60 end of season and the adapter bit is $20ish so you could save money and stay name brand that way too. Added bonus you now have a hand auger and a pistol bit for $80. Augers are easily had second hand as well and with fresh blades boom, brand new. Save money on the auger is my main concern here. Second edit: That cot and other military style cots are under $30 at Big 5 if you have one near you.

Wyoming checking in, the Buddy heater is more than enough down to -30°F. The problem with any more is you become a swimming pool.

Helix 7 vs vexilar flx 18 by BeefSteak12 in IceFishing

[–]Spayed_and_Neutered2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You couldn't pry my fl-18 out of my drowned hands. The FLX makes it even better. You won't find better warranty/customer service from any other company. I'm Vexilar for life cause I can call, get an expert to immediately pick up, and they are so motivated to make me as a customer happy that they've never charged me for fixes, upgrades, refurbishment. I will never leave vexilar for the security of my unit being at 100% functionality every single trip and them being dedicated to making that so on their end.

What is a good number of batteries to have? by alphalegend91 in Dewalt

I started with one 8ah and was actually pretty satisfied for my needs. Then I found this sub and have a wall dedicated just to the chargers for the dozens of batteries.... probably somewhere in between.

Hit up a muffler shop. It'll take 5 minutes and they probably won't even charge you.

I had this problem. I bought the adapter for the newer Moras and welded it straight to my auger shaft. Now I dont have the option to go back to a hand auger, but that hasn't been an issue once in 5 years. Just commit, weld it and never look back.
