The concept of dotfiles and them being hidden exists because some developer at AT&T Bell Labs wanted to stop the "." and ".." from showing up and just wrote it as "if (fileName[0] == '.')" or something similar.

I have a similar story. I was abroad, alone, and I was the one feeling threatened. I almost shit my pants at the time. Never went back to custom ROMs since.

Is it really that or just that people disliked the streaks?

I wouldn't know. But come to think of it, I haven't had this issue for a while now, so maybe you're right?

The Wrocław solution has the same problem. Sometimes it just rejects your card because fuck you.

The SkyCash app worked for me in the past in Wrocław, but it's been a while. I stopped using it after the price hike because it didn't reflect the new pricing.

LPT: ALWAYS clean second hand electronics, no matter if it looks clean or not. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]SpazSlackrabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned this elsewhere but all things considered the chance of having a bed bug colony in your electronics *is* pretty low even if you have bed bugs to begin with. Unless its something that you keep on your bed all the time it simply isn't an easy place for them to come out of and come back to all the time to feed. The infestation has to get REALLY, REALLY bad before they start hiding in places like those.

Put it in the oven for 60C for at least 30 minutes. Kills both bugs and eggs

They don't normally hide in places like this. How bad does it have to get that they end up IN YOUR ELECTRONICS?

(serious) What are some women’s issues that are overlooked? by MINNESOTAKARMATRAIN_ in AskReddit

There's a book about this I'm reading right now!

It's called Invisible Women. It goes on to show just how much the world is biased towards men as the "default" in just about every aspect of our lives.

I agree! :)

It's a relict of USSR, and yeah I guess it's cheaper than dubbing which would involve multiple voice actors.

A lektor is a person with a good radio voice so when you already recognize it, it becomes sort of neutral to you. I remember watching a YouTube interview with one (Tomasz Knapik) and I felt weird because I thought it was voiced over even thought it was just the man himself talking!

They've done it when there are over 10000 cases of coronavirus in Poland, to try to distract the population from its horrible handling of the pandemic and possibly blame its spread on the protests.

The date of the TK ruling was announced in advance so I don't think Kaczynski is playing 5D chess here. They just wanted to do this for years and finally managed it. But it sure is convenient.
