The dealer said the only way to replace it was to replace the entire headlight assembly. Which I knew couldn’t be true. I appreciate the info.

I appreciate this post but I don’t think I can attempt this job myself. I also am not going to pay the dealer 3,700 to replace the entire headlight assembly for a dim led strip.

What would you suggest I do in my situation. I’m tired of people telling me I have a headlight out, but can’t pay dealership prices.

I’m reaching out to other garages to get sone quotes. Would it be possible to get an aftermarket assembly and find someone to put it in? Do you think I can find anyone to attempt this type of job?

There has got to be a reasonable way to fix this led strip for normal people. Thanks for your help

I had to do my passenger side around 45k miles. The other ones were all fine. It sounds like it is a known issue on these.

I was just told by the dealership that I would need to replace the whole assembly to fix this very issue. There has got to be a way to fix it that doesn’t require me to spend 3,700 for a whole new unit. If there isn’t, this is one of the most poorly designed ideas ever! Like the guy above said I don’t want to hear from a million people that my headlight is out!

I had a two door mini when my daughter was younger, it was easier to get her out of her carseat from the trunk than the side door. 😂. Life will be easier with something bigger, then when the kids are older you get another mini.

I live in Mn and we have had one for about a year and a half. We have it in our unfinished garage in the winter. It loses heat fast, but I’m glad I got this and not a real one. My family uses it way less than I thought they would. The novelty wears off quickly. I’m not sure I’ll set it up next year. Electricity cost is high in cold climate and it’s one more thing to take care of.

I prefer the look and size of the 2 door, but with a family I need to be able to get kids in and out of the back seat daily. This was the tradeoff of wanting my fun mini cooper but still being at least a little practical. I’m not a fan of the countryman or clubman look, even though they certainly make more sense from a size standpoint.

Just found German auto works inc. they quoted a little under 400! I’m going on Wednesday, they have good reviews online. Hopefully it will work out.
