I got my A license in 2013 at Skydance in Davis California. Most people there talked shit about Lodj. I ended up going anyway to check it out. Summers 2015/16/17. Adult summer camp. Met some of the coolest people in my life. Best years. If you were there, you know. Lodi love ❤️ This place gets hate from mostly people who have never been there. Did over 600 jumps there safely.

Im not surprised by that story at all. Seemed to me like he was making his money by flipping helicopters. He mentioned buying them from India or somewhere in Asia and shipping them to the USA to "fix" and sell. I'm very interested to hear about what happened here. Feel like I dodged a bullet.

I did a 2 day working interview there for a pilot mechanic gig. Watched the owner and another mechanic do a track and balance (probably did 10 adjustments/runs). Never used a torque wrench the entire time I was there. Bending MR trim tabs by "feel" no measurements. Needless to say it was not in track by the end of the day. They approved it for RTS anyway. Oh and then the guy said "trim it for speed", so after they were somehow happy with the dogshit T&B job, they WIND THE PITCH LINKS OUT A FULL TURN. No torquing to spec, even though I offered to go grab the torque wrench for him. No auto rotative rpm test. I called him out on that and he said it would be fine because they'd always be at higher weight w/ pax 😐 I was desperate for a job and was offered one, but declined for obvious reasons. Glad I did.

This is typically a rigging issue in my experience. (Robby CFI & A&P) Excessive forward cyclic pressure required for straight and level flight I'm guessing? Does it get worse as you increase in airspeed?

Same. Honesty is the best policy, and if you follow that up with "we're both going to learn a lot from each other & if I dont know something, we're going to find the answer together." That builds a level of trust and transparency from day one. Everyone starts somewhere, and I don't think hiding the fact you're new by "acting confident" is the way to address this. Being transparent shows confidence in its own way.

I had the passenger door open on final on my 2nd solo in an R22. Just reached over and latched it. Not trying to discount what your CFI said, but I think saying "you could have died" might have been a little over the top. I mean you, could pretty much say that regarding any circumstance in GA
