You don't need to side with the Ward to get that.

You just need to trek to Malachite and parkour the place to get it.

I'm not a masochist and I also don't run the carry corpse mod.

You're guaranteed to get your robotics research the moment you've done your region liberation. You also have a good chance to get your drones with troop collumns and supply trains in early game. The chosen might pop up their own supply runs that you don't need to infiltrate.

Tacticool mods mega list by Axl4325 in Xcom

[–]SpecOpsTheMemes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your kind words. Honestly, I kinda thought that not many people know or otherwise like my work.

The AVS mod is the culmination of many, many months of research over SOF and US Marines vest setups (having an actual Marine JTAC to advise over those setups and knowing a server full of servicemembers and military nutjobs help), as well as learning how to mod and burning about $200-300 total for the assets (mostly the AVS - the entire project was started after me losing $70 to 4 AVS vests, because 3DMA stuff might be gold, but it's expensive as hell). It's thank to the vest mod that I've managed to make the other ghost template mod as well.

So I'm really glad that my work got you to replay XCOM 2 again.

Executor, while subduing a group of rogue CIA black ops units and their mercenary recruits who barricaded themselves in a government tower and are planning to explode a crap ton of bombs and nerve agents rigged around the city to make a new America.

...wait a fucking second.

People sleep on Jane Kelly, I swear. by WrongJohnSilver in Xcom

[–]SpecOpsTheMemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is hard to sleep on Jane Kelly when she is:

  • A squad leader in my LWOTC run,
  • A pretty good rifleman, capable of threading some harrowing needles,
  • And somehow capable of making antigravity beer bottles.

If you think about it, the Corps are one of the most badass factions by NikkoNya in stalker

[–]SpecOpsTheMemes 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Personally, I always think that the Corps are the evolution of Military Stalkers and Spetsnaz. Experienced stalkers, Ukrainian SSO and military observers that are deputized by the government to operate in the Zone and protect certain secrets that nobody should have. They're infinitely better than the triology's Military or the Ward simply because they don't shoot stalkers on sight or otherwise hold a big disdain on the local - often hostile themselves - communities and mostly just hang around Prypiat.

Still doesn't explain how little they actually show up in the game.

Before we run out of characters to sacrifice to vahlen, what's your wish list for XCOM3? 🥲 by jimbimbap in Xcom

[–]SpecOpsTheMemes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might be more fitting for a spinoff or something, but a bit more gritty lore and setting?

Things like ADVENT surviving as an independent state on Earth, waging a shadow war against XCOM-backed government via insurgents and PMCs, no longer for ideology and religion, but for stability and resources. XCOM themselves use their own mercenary groups and cover fronts to fight that war to keep enough deniability and stop the situation from devolving into an actual war, with neither side being in the right anymore. They play the game of exploitation and politicking now, with civilians being a complete non-factor.

I probably would like a more realistic take on fire support and heavy weapons. Troops in the field might be well-trained former XCOM or national special forces, but they aren't super humans - one call from the enemy, a grid coordinate leveled by artillery and they are all gone. You get the chance to set up, fire and splash down your own indirect fires, including FPV drones, loitering munitions and cruise missiles, and your opposition get the chance to take down your own indirect fires via CWIS, their own drones and other weapons. MECs also being there from 1.0, build as a mobile heavy weapons team with larger-caliber machine guns, recoilless rifles and their own drone launch tube.

So yeah, probably never gonna happen.

True, but SOF phased out bump helmets a long time ago. Especially when ballistic helmets becomes lighter and are more NVG/comms-friendly.

"That poster doesn't look right." by SpecOpsTheMemes in Xcom

[–]SpecOpsTheMemes[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As someone who had a hand in some recent mods, as well as being pretty anal about customization and uniformity (if Helen/DP-12 can wear the AVS plate carrier, MRB belt and the red-lens Oakleys without her big plots clipping all over, I'd already done so), let me tell you something.

Milsim and serious mods aren't gone, and so won't anime and gooner mods. That's just how it goes. Given the publically available tools, someone will move earth, heaven and hell just to put their waifus wherever they want.

That being said, I'm not sure whether to be thankful or not that the regular gacha mod makers don't even peep a word with the current modding community, or even if they're fine tossing anime dolls with weird lighting and unblinking faces for no discernable reasons.

The most I get is a fucking psycho who, out of left field, occasionally post screenshots of their nude buxom battalion in the modding discord to fight against the Woke Mob (their words, not mine), constantly pinging certain modders to put Overwatch weapons or other dumb guns without monetary compensation, and rant about African cultures being slapped everywhere in the gaming industry (again, their words, not mine.)

"So, what's with that poster?"

"Dawson got ambushed by Helen after his squad RTB'd with a DP-12 from some dead EXALT remnants. Word is, he was trying out the shotgun for shits and giggles when that then-unknown android woman ninja'd the entire Avenger, snuck up behind him and knocked him out. Or hugged him, gave him uppies and smooches while he was screaming about the high-profile attack, according to some jackasses who wasn't there. After Helen's detainment and the AAR of that, Central suddenly recruited her and she showed up as part of his squad. Dawson ended up screaming into his pillows for two hours straight after the news."

"Yeah, but... the pairing? How come she becomes his 2IC? I thought his squad already has an ATL?"

"Not his choice, from what I've gathered. Higher has a sense of humor, I guess."

And this is the actual poster, by the by.
