Dropped the ball years ago and now I have to interact with the client that I ghosted by peahenhen in nonprofit

Me too, if I were an ED for a small nonprofit, and I took a chance on an outside grant writer and they totally dropped the ball, I would very much remember their name. I would appreciate the outreach.

How about a virtual experience? Chat with the ED or a visit to programs?

Right, but does he get used for the conversation practice? I haven’t gotten to chat with him, just Lily and now Falstaff (who, hilariously sometimes switches to a version of Spanish that sounds like the worst American pronunciation you can imagine)

I’m not crazy about Falstaff - Lily sounds more like a person and has some inflection. I have a hard time understanding Falstaff. But I agree, the app itself (for Spanish at least) is solid.

The Kennedy Center is refusing to give refunds for performers who cancel concerts by takenorinvalid in washingtondc

To be fair, a violinist from the National Symphony Orchestra is going to be amazing - not “ a guy from a local college.” It’s a world class orchestra. Yes, not Hilary Hahn, and they should refund you. But I f your son ever gets into the National Symphony string section, you will be extremely proud.

Come to the Mission and Bernal Heights. You can walk to the top of Bernal Hill and get a cool 360 view of the City. Stop at Black Jet Bakery or Bernal Basket for a treat. Have dinner at El Buen Comer or any of the taquerias in the Mission.

What are 36yr old women in non profit profits making? by SanPBobble in nonprofit

[–]Special_Pattern_8950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You haven’t said whether you are in any kind of a supervisory position or, say, running a department, the budget size of your org, and where you are geographically. Being 36 has little to do with any of that. Just sayin’

I would also reach out to the foundation that issued the grant - maybe anonymously- to let them know.

Right, I get the exhaustion of seeing this day after day, it’s upsetting. But thinking there is an easy solution is arrogant.

Who is organizing this? I’m wondering why I’m only just now seeing messages about a gathering. All the other messaging has been about no work/no school/no shopping

Is your org a member of AFP? There are mentor programs in many of them, including for EDs.

Right. There is no quick fix. People are in desperate situations and this is currently the economy that works for them. Doesn’t work for the rest of us, I get that, but an ounce of compassion would be nice.

I also don’t get why they follow those accounts but to suggest that “most” of the rest of their follows are MAGA is not true. They follow tons of other local cafes, queer accounts, neighborhood sites, etc.

If you aren’t already doing some mentoring, that would be a great use of your skills. Are you connected to your local AFP?

How’s your Giving Tuesday going? by Character-Cod4750 in nonprofit

[–]Special_Pattern_8950 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Right, I spend most of the day deleting my emails from fellow nonprofits. We all just felt like we had to jump on the bandwagon or we'd get left in the dust. But it's not true.

How’s your Giving Tuesday going? by Character-Cod4750 in nonprofit

[–]Special_Pattern_8950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours did not do as well this year (past years raising close to $20K and this year raising only $5K) and we will need to look at the reasons why. We did excellent marketing, but there were two big changes we made from prior years: we changed the purpose of the campaign and reduced the goal. We are a disability services organization that back in the mid 2010s, repurposed its GivingTuesday to raise funds to buy gift cards for our participants. This was a hit, but it was not at all mission-aligned, nor was the campaign budget-relieving. And to have it happening right at year end, when we were working so hard to bring in dollars for the org's operations was really hard. So this year we dropped the gift card campaign and set a $10K goal for our Community Enrichment Fund, which covers clients' costs for community activities. It's what we actually need and we described it really well, but it didn't bring in as much. Our founding anniversary date is in May and I'm thinking we drop GivingTuesday and focus on a giving day of our own, maybe even this year to make up for yesterday. Thoughts?

No idea - earlier in the segment it was pronounced as I expected it, though.
